Ok lads has anybody had any bad experience whith a fussy Tiler. That complained to customers that the walls ar just a bit out .I think ther so slow in tiling ther just looking for any excuse for extra cash .

Over skim .And the walls weren't that bad .Iv c that trick before when they nead exra cash they blame the walls .if the wall is out by 10 mil u bed more stuff simple o no this bloke made song and dance
 
I had the same recently, tiler refused to tile the splashback in a kitchen which was reskimmed because the internal wasn't dead on 90. Im still unsure that what lenght i supposed to go on a reskim which is 3mm in thickness and the house is early 1900. They got another tiler, who said plastering was bob on and no issues whatsoever.
Some just being difficult.
 
Foundation layers blame the machine drivers. Block layers blame the foundation men. Roofers and Plasterers blame the blockies. Tilers and chippys blame the plasterers and screeders along with the painters and finally the husband blames the wife for the overspend on the job.

That's my view in the years I've been in this game!

This bloke carried on tiling if the walls were out that much y carry on .he should of phoned me and I'd b ther whith a bag of bonding and my straight edge awkward t**t
 
Don't forget that there are plenty of inexperienced coursers trader as tilers too. So maybe he'd never found a wall out of true in his booth at the college (or in someone's garage :whistle: ).
 
I'd simply tell that tiler if your not able to do it I have a list of tilers I can call.Sounds like he's making a big deal out of nothing.

Or just maybe if every tradesmen was like the tiler and refused to work over bad work the building game would be a lot easier for everyone. As things would have to be done right

Tilers are inconsistent with their demands.

When they're slack they can tile onto concrete block.

When they are busy they require a perfectly presented blank canvas, along with a Ming vase filled with Revels ... but with all the nutty one's removed.

Your rhight ther m8 every job should b done rhight .but have u tried to render a fuked up stone wall . And to get it bang on .So when u put your straight edge on the wall ther no room for a 10 p . very time consuming job .But if the customer want that they pay for it and I bet u half of them whant b bothered til the tiler comes round moaning about 10 to 20 m.tilers they know nothing about hard graft

Have u tried to get a fuked up stone wall spot on .We are not talking new block work .It ok for a tiler to moan about 10 20 m . some tilers know nothing about hard graft
 
Everyone knows it's the plasterers job to make walls plumb and square. :-)

I have and done so. When the price was there to do so. I wasn't having a dig at u. Am just saying if every plasterer priced to bond and skim on reskim old walls would be flat. But in the real world customers won't pay for that. I always give 2 prices for bonding and skim.

No worries m8 I'm .Im glad I'm on this brilliant site so I can talk to genuine lads like your self . So I can put my mind at rest that I'm not the only one that had trouble whith a fussy tiler
 
Did a large job in Preston, the spec was. 2mm to vertical at 3m high,and 3mm to horizontal over 4 m length if it was not to the spec ,tiler wouldn't entertain starting.

On a more serious note, because it's all about quantity over quality and there are next to no inspections anymore. The few sample houses that do get checked are selected by the contractor. So if you get paid more for producing crap quickly why would you do otherwise?

Pride or money.....i know which way most would choose. Not saying its right but I get it....money feeds the kids pride is a luxury.
