Hello, just joined up As my renderer has let me down and I need some help and advice.

I've just built a timber fram extension 5m x3m single story using 6x2 for the frame then osb with tyveck batons another tyvek stainless steel eml with a good 200mm overlap at joints. My renderer was planning on using Weber OCR which I now have 35 bags of with plastic stop and beads. Basically do you think this suitable and does anyone have experience in OCR or would like to quote? As I've been let down.

Is OCR similar enough to plastering? As I'm struggling to find anyone inthe area Folkestone who is used to using OCR. Any help contacts recommendations would be much appreciated as I'm getting worried as the weather is starting to change

Cheers adam

Hi there Adam, lots of guys on here use ocr, keep checking in someone will reply soon enough.

Hi Adam, OCR is just pre mixed sand & cement in a bag.(basically). You should have a breathable membrance behind your EML. Im sure someone off here whole works near your area could come and give you some help & advice

He did say there's a membrane behind the EML, it sounds good to go.

Why use a one coat render to go over eml , which in my mind should be two coat with at least a gap of 5 days between coats , far better products on the market , bit like the dark ages :RpS_confused:

I,m 46 John ,just moved with the times a bit mate :RpS_unsure:
I'm 47 and half, worked for myself for so long , doing refurbs for builders and developers and its been the same thing year after year, the property values has gone up by 15 times since I started but the work has been the same old fashioned thing, I do wish I was doing other things, interested in the ewi work but there seems to be no money in it,I was trying to get into property development but only manage to do a house very two yrs or so which I really like but would love it full time..

he will have trouble fixing eps due to not planning a rail system or a second sheathing board wich would put the cost up. from what i can read his cavity has been created with a batten then more membrane and lath straight across the front of the battens - not an easy background to fix insulation to or render onto.

if i read right what you have done so far then prob best to crack on with the spec purchased, no pun intended.

ocr is just like any render a plasterer will be fine with it
