Tiny pin holes on plastered walls

Hi all,

I have had various walls in my house proessionally plastered but unfortunately after painting, the finish looks very poor.

There are areas on the wall where I can see lots of tiny pin prick holes, which when viewed from certain angles creates a really poor texture on the walls. There are also other areas which look dried up, similar to the surface of Mars.

I've tried repainting but can't seem to resolve this issue. Any tips would be very appreciated. I was thinking about sanding down the walls again and trying to fill some areas with Toupret fine fill but wonder if this will happen again?

Is this something I've done wrong when decorating? On each wall I waited for a few weeks before painting and applied a mist coat first.

Thanks for the advice folks. Sounds like my poor painting could be to blame.

I've bought some Toupret filler and will give that a go.

Can't imagine how a plasterer would have done that to you - but there again, I can't imagine how you've done it either.

Still, it's done now so go down to your locall specialistb paint shop and enquire about what products they have available. There's usually something

That’s thick paint that’s been applied without being watered down and has made an artex type texture with the roller which was probably a thick pile one.

Thanks Stuart. Seems like I definitely created the rough texture by applying paint without watering it down.

The pinhole marks are still a bit of a mystery though.

I accept my rolling skills are shite but I've not really encountered this problem in previous houses. Is it just a case of I needed to water down all coats on new plaster and not just the mist coat?

I did put on a 3 in 1 coat of Dulux on the bathroom thinking it would cover the holes but it was really thick and created more areas of rough texture. That's in one of the pics where it looks really rough.
