how far do you all travel for work?.........do you enjoy it and are the rates slightly better in certain areas ?

Have always worked locally but in recent months ive had to travel as much as 30-40 miles to find work.
Just seems to have gone a bit quit over the last month or 2.
Im getting calls and getting work but no the good stuff !!!
Just enough to survive really

we on sites and travel anywhere in the country really even been to jersey and guersnsey. we on a price so we cover our own digs. works out bout£200 a week so it aint that bad.

I stay local , will travel about an hour if needed , only further if the moneys right.

25 miles for a good days work or a good run daily, always price in the extra juice though if i can..
got a regular customer about 12 miles up the a1 and its a p'ss run, no traffic so its no worries..
locally within the city if possible...
any more than 25 miles needs to be priced for digs or juice, these days deisel is nearly double what it used to be so i aint keen on the travelling, and neither are the customers for that reason...
its probably psycological but many customers think that a local tradesman will be cheaper when in this game thats just not the case as theres so much variation..
site or contract works different innit, digs and regular wages, but unless youre the gaffer its a young blokes game...

£200 a day surely?????
You dont work away all week for £200 a week.
it cost bout £200 for a week. each. £80 each for digs. £50 between 2 of us for fuel as we dig as close as pos to the job. then the rest covers our food easy. We hit bout £1000 after tax each so £800 eachclear worth beaing away for 4 nights a week.

always find digs close to a weatherspoons when i work away, good grub and cheap guiness! is this advertising?

i can get anything decent around liverpool so working for a cumbrian firm better rates digs are £45 a week an costs me about £25 diesel

Most of my work is usually up to 25 miles away, but if the money is right i'll go anywhere.

I just go where the work is, dont mind travelling each day as long as its not over 2 hours, mind you we were working in marlow outside london and we were travelling that every day took around 1 hour 45 min until there was a smash on the motorway we sat on the m4 for 4 hours one night and ther was an accidet on there at least 2 times a week :o
