I use an oil stone but if that's not hand I just wet a piece of thermalite block, it usually does the trick.
 
head to a market oil stones in BQ were expensive and broke well easy!

I always carry wet n dry paper for suc occasions

paving slabs work, no need to bring one with you, I use the ones
they make footpaths out of ;D Just splash some water on 'em, 2 mins :D

Bet you could buff it out on your ruff arse eh Irish :D

i wouldnt dream of throwing a good trowel away they take a long time to break in. i bought a grinding wheel for £20.00 to do my chisels but its great for taking nicks out of trowels i also round off polished plaster trowel corners with it
