my skimming trowel died on me had it for years iv bought a mt 14 5 perma shape the thing is its shaped like a banana my walls are not as flat as were with my old mt trowel. will it flatin its self out or is that the way they stay. can anyone tell me were i can get a mt 14 5 trowel that is flat

you might have bought i dodgy one they shud have a slight bend in them the tyzak ready to use trowels are pretty flat but the handles are fatter and straighter than a MT although you can modify a MT handle to fit a tyzk like i have

your better off breaking a normal one in best way to do this to a new one is with a metal file and some wet sandpaper to finish it. to get a slight bend in trowel, i got shown a good way once . put 2 10p coins on a flat floor one at the end of fange at toe and one at end of flange at rear. position trowel on top making sure on rivots under flange ,put a sweeping brush handle under trowel handle and position it halfway then stand on it this will leave a gentle bend

jm they are designed like that i dont know why but they are ok for final troweling i just cant use it the toe bends upwards and so does the heal try refina they have a few trowels see how that goes i just cant get on with em

just buy one get out of box and use it dont bend it and dont file or sand it just use it

yep totally agree with grand ..the best way to break a trowel in is just to use it and and you can't get a standard 14 x 5 as all the 5" trowels are permashape, you can get a 14 x 4 3/4...i'm sure you won't miss the quarter inch
