Evening all,
As the title says,i have a kitchen in an old hall that needs re-plastering before the new kitchen gets fitted, what do you reckon would be the best way to do.The original plaster has blown in many places through damp.Would it be right for me to suggest to the client to maybe strip off the old plaster (2 coat)which is 65mm deep in places, then Vandex or similar, then use CLS studding, board and skim. What other options are there to effect a quality job.
Thanks Fellas ???

tanking the whole lot might work then as you say stud and board it...might wanna use treated timber though, or metal studs and completely separate it from the wall, condensation might be an issue though..
triton damp proofing do a product called 'platon', its a membrane you can dab onto, usually used in basements though.. also called olroyd 'p' made by another company, cant remember who..
you can damp proof stone walls with a process/substance called 'injection mortar', can be dodgy in its effectiveness though..
at the end of the day it is what it is and unless the customer wants to spend an absolute fortune it might be easier to just render it with plenty waterproofer...

Yes just give it a scracth coat with modified render then dot and dab(the modified render will keep the damp at bay) but it does mean hacking the whole lot off to ceiling height, which i think was your intention any how? effectivly means you tanking the room before you stick your boards on the wall

if your going to use studs use gypliner it anchors to the wall in variouss places and is the best system for single sided studs
