Cheers Kitchy I'll give him a call, were based in Halifax and cover West Yorkshire and Manchester,it's a bit of a struggle getting conternuity for two coat work,

I wouldn't ring anyone offering £6m2 for 2 coat work, it's an insult to the skill and effort required. f**k that
Joke isn't it..400m2 of it and 200m2 of skimming ceilings..floating shud be at least £8m2..but if he's happy and can make it pay he's entilted to it if he rings sharpish.

I agree ,but £6.00 m2 is better than sat waiting for the phone to ring, especially in January when works a bit tight .50 m2 a day for two is only 16 bags, then skim easy day for £ 300.00

Ye its better than sat at home like like u say its £150 a day for 2 men and easy days really he pays for beading but beware he dsnt pay through doors windows etc gud luck anyhow

Taking out doors and windows off an internal measure is a piss take , Are all the window reveals on day rate then.

8 quid is what he'll be charging out, so he's making 2 quid a metre for doing nowt, welcome to the layer cake.

No pays linean meter but it works out fck all on previous jobs we've done we've done a set of reveals with head and its works out about a £5iver! Joke int it

Thing is £6m2 is tight as fck but if guys got no work and 2 men can easily do £300 between them so £150 a day is ok as its not owt stupid like £70 a day..i never got Down to the nitty gritty with price as turned it down flat then seen this guy on forum so I asked wat was paying this morning he Said £6m2 I wudnt do for £6m2 at the min as stacked out but would I I had absolutely nowt coming in as £150 a day int to be sneezed at

when I was a plastering contractor, nearly 7 years ago now, id get it in at 8.50 then sub at 6.50 -7 measured through

I can understand taking doors out, why pay someone for something they've not done, but window reveals should be paid on a linear metre plus beading imo, and what gets me is the main subbies who contract to the main contractor rates them and gets paid for them but doesn't pass this on to the guys on the tools, me personally I used to i pay the lads for it, I got paid for it it keeps the cogs well oiled

a measure for doors is a gesture of good will, the percentage of door space to floated areas is minimal.

Let's say someone floats and skims 1 side of a corridor at 2.5 high and 25metres long at say £8m2 with let's say 10 standard size doors so each door is roughly 2m2, that's 62.5m2 in total with doors in the measure that's £500, take the doors out and you've saved yourself £160 on one side of the corridor and the spread has still earned a good crust doing 42.5m2. Now there's the other side of the corridor with the same amount of doors saving you another £160 is there's ten doors each side of the corridor there's 20rooms that your willing to pay through the doors for, that's £640 in total that you've needlessly paid out

its not needlessly paid out it is it, I was paid on a straight measure with doors and passed that on, I made and the spreads made, that's how it was, and I still made a good living, its not being greedy, and getting the best lads in and installing loyalty.
i do exactly the same now with the externals and complete over 10,000 a year and still make money, I could take doors out and make a few extra quid but its a short sighted approach.

Exactly that, sometimes I wish we could stop bead around the openings we don't get paid for then let them cut the linings in to suit.
