hi all, has anyone used uni finish yet, i spoke to gypsum last year and they assured me that its fine to skim over old black mortor without the need for pva, being an assessor in a training centre i tried to blag a few bags from them, but hit a brick wall. as there wasnt many stockists of this product the only way i could get my hands on some was to buy a pallet of the stuff, and the people up above said basically(no chance) i try not to do any work on the side anymore as ive moved indoors and enjoying the change of routine, but i am keen to know if any of you guys who must be mad choosing to become plasterers( as its basically the hardest most phisically demanding trade in construction) you would agree, have used the stuff, i would be gratefull if anyone can shed some light on this plz.

i used last week on a painted ceiling been called back as a lump of the plaster fell off not happy

this how the ceiling i did with uni began coming apart when i painted it.....

uni finish

Then it all end up like this............

uni finish

Got phone call today wall I did with unifinish has just been painted and its got cracks and is hollow stuff a joke local merchants got a pallet in and not shifted any

The background is smooth that why the new layer of uniplaster fall down.
interface material needs between new layer and old one to increase the adehesion...

I meant it was possibly hollow before you went over it :RpS_thumbup:
Been to have a look at it today it's cracked all over and it's just the unifinish that hollow as the wall was sound no cracks only skimmed cause we bonded a fireplace up and they did not want a patch up job now got to take the lot off and reskim and its not a small wall either 7m long with a new lime stone fireplace to get round think I want compensation from bg for this

You need to get their rep out, compensation would be hard fought for but saying that lots of people have problems so they should help you out without dramatics

Fair play marra get someone to film you taking it off with a scraper and make sure you don't lift any of the original off at the same time.

Well took all the naff unifinsh off the wall today came off in big sheets videoed the removal rang bg and complained they took my details and said a rep will ring you today my arse did he, properly to busy with all the other complaints about the s..t. It's cost me a days money and a lot of a apologising to the client
