Uni price drop

Been told uni finish is now £10 a bag down from £11.78. B&Q
I don't know if this is nationwide but the person I was speaking to said the pallets they get are still deemed as trial and no decision has been made if they will continue stocking it.
They are in talks with bg about price point and they would like to see it closer to multi price.
Seemed to know about the issues some people have and also uni 1 episode.
It still had 3 months shelf life on pallet.

I was quoted £10 a bag because I've got a trade point discount card. They don't keep it on the shelf at my local store, which is a shame because I wanted to give it a try on some painted artex ceilings.

ive only used it once reskimming my daughters house got it for knocked down price of fiver a bag {bought 3} used 1 chucked over 2 in skip absolutely hated it !

They have wanted £7 for the bag on the top for the last month I had to point out they were all out of date :)
Uni price drop

You just don't trust it?

I found on artex ceilings it just hung around far too long much longer than multi and pva.
On Matt walls it's going off as you trowel it, it's really not worth the aggro when pva and multi/board work a treat

As you know this is not my department @theplasterman :)
Lol I not getting drawn into it
All I say is lower the price then it's all good,
I'm at about 1800 -2000 bags used now to date i always flatten with Speedskim to finish and try to use mainly on low/medium suction..maybe one day the rest of you will catch on to new better ways of working.Unifinish is one of British gypsums performance product plasters which are a range of new plasters that are out and coming out for the next generation of Plastering.

Xx

And get it from a merchants like sig or ccf..just look at the state of them bags at bnq.. absolute disgrace the materials storage at that place the beads are daylight robbery and normally bent or little niks in them.

The cocepts right Pete....bud on anything other than silk paint not fit for purpose...

Bought 20 bags used on a silk HSL a proper god send...

Used on general reskim next job after wall paper removed was up to 4 coats before I could trowel it....

Though when used on on PVA walls awsome makes it like skimming plasterboard...

The product is being miss lead in its sale usage...is its not fit for anything with suction...

I would absoloutley love to not PVA particularly as I only skim on it once dry just wish it was more versatile...

The day I was skimming straight onto stripped walls I nearly died sweating like a clown looked totally unproffesional and I'm positive given how it went off on impact its going to shell off 1 day and unfortunately its for a neighbourvso will look s right t**t if it does!!!

I know what you saying..before it was released I said and thought it needed to be tweaked a bit to hold back a bit longer on higher suction but suppose it wasn't as it would then of lasted to long on low suction, spraying of water on high suction helps but most will say might as well pva and skim I agree..it won't fall off though

Hopefully lol

Yes,,,,
The gear was a totally better consistency for application than other occssssions,,no idea why.
Used it on Matt paint before.
Coated wall 9am
Complete 11:30am
It was far better than all previous times.

Will tinker with it,,,,
To be honest if I had pva on Matt paint it dries quick,,etc,, then boardy.
Boardy sets quicker than uni..
Boardy 40% cheaper thereabouts.
Don't know if previous bags we're gubbed. It wasn't as gluey in application as before.
Boardy is superior finish though.

In this instance it did saved time.

Cool good to hear it went okay mate

It does have its uses, don't think anyone can deny that. It's who's prepared to keep fking about with it (apart from Vince) while shelling out more than you would for multi. So many variables I don't have the time, or energy, to persevere with it. I will still buy it for the odd job if I see it reduced to clear, painted bathrooms or kitchen ceilings which are small areas I can keep an aye on.

I don't get why people think its a magic solution its designed to stick without pva it doesn't say on the bag that it kills suction. You wouldn't buy board finish to skim a wall you floated two days before and you wouldn't expect multi not to pull in.

Its about using it on the right jobs thats all. I think all unifinish threads should be banned now because its like groundhog day

Its the marketing which is wrong in it's claim period!!!

It leads you to believe that you can just walk onto any job pretty much and crack on!!!

They need to be more honest in there labelling aposed to ovwepromise and under achieve!
