Finally cracked it.

Thankyou everyone for giving me some confidence

Took @JessThePlasterer advice and walked away from everything. Best thing I did. Ended up tiling the other side.

Thankyou, not before downing tools and being fairly abusive to myself for not having enough skills yet, it's a never ending loop - need practice to get better, but each job it's perfect so don't want to do any more

Welcome back Larry glad you’ve sorted everything

I'm just glad my construction, electrics, plumbing and decorating are better!

Not tried carpet laying yet, but do have carpet burn from laying plastic turf yesterday

Practice makes perfect mate every plasterer I think has a bad day at some point goes for any trade aswell nothing is easy

Ironically I used to be one, then changed job to something (what I thought at the time) was a better sector.

How wrong I was

Least being a grafter/builder you're your own boss, out in the open - not stuck in some horrible dirty flu infested office!

Try being a builder

Thankyou, I'm almost being tempted to buy a sachet of extratime or sodium citrate, I've got a big (well it is to me) artex'd ceiling to do, it's a 'T' shape above the stairs going into the hallway. Going to hate it

Saying that, I ripped my bath out on Friday, got no where to shower at the moment, so need to get the new one installed, threw the old one in a fit of frustration down the stairs, it didn't even hit a wall which was quite impressive

Looking good there mate. Nice to see you back

One thing at a time mate. Get bath reinstated.

Epic tantrum lol! If you’re skimming over artex do the zombie mix, few handfuls of bonding in your first coat, slows it down too

I'm hard, I have a hosepipe outside (I can select hot or cold water with how I did it to wash the dog!) The previous bath wasn't even secured to the wall, so when I installed a shower screen & associated taps, it'd rock to the extent water would run down the back right downstairs into the kitchen... When I took it out it was held on the floor by literally 2 x 1/4" screws! no wonder it was rocking slightly. This new one I'm going to reinforce the floor, screw the bath in properly and then fill the void under the bath with layers of board so it's absolutely solid and weight evenly distributed when we shower in it

One thing at a time mate. Get bath reinstated.

I'm actually a really calm person, I just can't deal with stress anymore, it's horrible

What's a zombie mix? The only zombies I know of are the nurses in the silent hill movie hubba hubba

The ceiling is a stippled artex, the peaks are pretty small so not too bad, the bathroom was that leather effect one, I mean seriously, whoever created artex should be put inside and kept there

Ohh that sounds interesting, so does bonding plaster dry slowly? Just trying to understand the chemical reaction how it'd work as they are both alk?

Adds a bit of thickness to the first coat to help get over artex. It also slows down the going off time slightly. And I think the bonding qualities in it prob beneficial on artex

Really? I’ve definitely found the opposite. Maybe it depends on how much you add
2 handfulls jess..every bag of bonding i get seems to go off in 15mins..hate the stuff that bonding 60 is alot better to use but only selco stock it near me and its a trek dwn there so hardly use it
