Hi Everyone

Anyone know/heard if Uban Fix in Pallion, Sunderland are any good? To start with them in about 2 weeks time for 12 week NVQ level 2 course in Plastering. I've been referred via New Deal by Job Centre Plus.

Been told this NVQ level 2 course consists of 2 weeks training only and 10 weeks of placement. Am concerned will end up with a useless piece of paper.

Cheers

It wont be useless paper if you are good.

You will be slow but as long as you produce good results and a good finish who cares if you are slow.

I am going back on teh tools a couple days of the week to get my strength back and get out of the house and I am going to be mega slow but my customer dont care cos of teh quality of work they will get.

The NVQ wont make you a plasterer only time and experience does that

wouldnt surprise me if they blackpool jobcentre jumped on the same bandwagon... you know, blackpool, 60 quid a day for experienced plasterers and theres no work about...?
I would have though government 'new deal' money would have been better spent on 'skills shortage' trades... wasnt aware of a shortage of plasterers in the north east? surely if there were then the prices would be higher? or am I reading to much into what I read on here these days?

ur 100 % right mate.
Theres too many plasterers now,but its cheaper to send them on a plastering or painting course than a gas plumbing or electrical course plus the small matter of needing more inteligence to do the later jobs,no disrespect to plasterers im one myself remember but its the truth.

You dont need any brains to be a plasterer, im from Wigan and half the towns a plasterer thats because were all Thick Tw @ ts
