van insurance

Thinking of buying a vauxhall vivaro so did the insurance quote on gocompare....first van so no no claims but 10 years worth on the car.....£530:eek: what a racket, the car insurance on 2 litre civic was £215 a few weeks ago.
 
Greater risk of theft of or from, higher risk of accidents as more are driven by dick heads, more expensive claims as they cause larger amounts of damage in a bump, higher risk of expensive gear being carried, tend to be driven during the day rather than just for commuting therefore at greater risk of accidents, etc. etc.

No consolation but mine is about a hundred less. 18 month old Vivaro owned from new, I'm 48 with no points.

I was surprised to find that having it sign written and racking fitted makes the premium lower.

How you finding the van? The one im going for is a 59 so a bit older 5k with 55k miles so not bad.....you made me sadder cos now I know the premium aint going down:cry:
 
Touch wood, but it's been absolutely spot on in every respect. I went for the last of the old model rather than the first of the new model. So it's got the later engine and gearbox and all the bugs ironed out.

Not sure what year they changed the engine and box, but it'd be worth checking as I know that the early ones had some expensive problems.

That said, there isn't a make or model of van out there that doesn't have it's weaknesses.
