got my new 60 plate top spec van.. 5 days iv had it.. i found out when i go over 80mph i get a funny noise and even more so the faster i go? so i took it to renault and they said well you should'nt be doing thats kind of speed! and that they can only test it to 75mph

i said true but it shouldnt make that noise! so its booked in they thinks its just a belt on to tight but still gobby lil** ers

Serves you right. Should have bought a Transporter like Uncle Tony said. Can't tell these young lads anything.

tony i just dnt like them vans mate.. should all be sorted next week least its only a minor thing!

I hate to say it Oasis. You should have gone for the back bone of britain! My Transit cruises at 100. On cruise control, of course!!!

dont wanna p1ss on yer chips ere but it couldnt be a gearbox noise could it?? those vans are renowned in the motor trade to have the worst gearboxes ever fitted to a vehicle. not sure about the brand new ones (I should think they have sorted it by now after ignoring for so long there was a problem, renault told me they have yet vauxhall say there is no problem) I hear its not covered by warranty either so keep at them mate until the noise is fixed and if they say they cant find anything wrong with it but the noise still persists keep at them because the first thing they are tought is to fob you off (I worked in the trade before plastering) keep at em until they sort it because if you keep pestering they will do something - eventually

How did the saying go? I remember,

If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen.

Sadly, renault don't get the best of names. But i think all the van/car makers are slowly getting on an equal footing. I've owned all sorts. I know what your saying about VW Tony but i had the iconic T5 and yes it was good but i cant say it was streets ahead of anything else. The side door runner fell to bits suddenly and i had to secure it with a rope from inside. The dual mass flywheel is a weakness on the VW both myself and a mate who has T5 trendline had to replace those. mine went at 75,000 and his at just over 100,000. I nearly bought another T5 until i test drove my current 140 limited Transit. I like it so far! Sometimes its just the luck of the draw.

yup those renault gearboxes are renowned for going bang...

not sure why they are nhot covered under warrenty.... its not classed as a wearable part.... unlike the clutch.

I was always told to avoid french litter shitroen and renault I always avoid parts are mega money

ford vauxhall nissan reliable or cheap parts

wow.... I use to have that sort of bill with my old mini, then I discovered that I did not have to pay a garage to repair it... lol haynes manual where are you?

Janes smart car is in my uncles garage at the moment, might need a new engine burning oil and knocking (sounds like little ends) we only bought it 2 months ago however even if we spend £1k on it we still got a bargain :RpS_thumbup:

My escort van I paid £250 for it all it needed was a new indicator stalk and an mot which it flew through. It had only done 60k and was never used in teh building trade, no rust and still to this day no rust. I have not driven it in 2 years yet I dont wanna sell as its owes me nothing and if I did need to go back plastering buying a van at the moment is minimum £1500 so no point.

Oasis I like the fact that you went to the trouble of doing over 80mph in the outside lane on the motorway driving one handed while you film it with the other hand :RpS_biggrin:
Hope pc plod isn't watching

lol van drivers!! i used to drive doon the motorway eating a chinky, whilst on the phone. That was before the recession lol

I like trying to eat a big mac meal whilst going round roundabouts & texting kebab a pic of my latest turd :RpS_laugh:

i filmed it to show renault as they said tehy cant drive it over 75mph, it was a private road, and i always drive one handed cuz im so cool

Take it back, demand a courtesy van, and tell them you'll go to trading standards if they don't fix it. You have 14 days to change your mind. It's the law.

Oasis my new vivaro makes a noise 50% of the time when I drive above 90ish, sounds kinda like yours but its deffo not anything to do with the engine or transmission, deffo caused by the wind obviously blowing through somthing! (not saying yours is the same you'd know more than me), I kinda put it down to a design fault and something that cant really be changed, cos to find something caused by the wind at speed would be eliminating every minor little hole/thing that could cause the noise until ya find it. f**k it, just turn ya music up
