Yeh Id like a Transporter and its mileage is good along with the price but its abit old aint it. You could get a new model with the same milage for not far off that price. Whats your max budget?

A good place to try and get a bargain if you dont mind askin is go to a place that uses quite a few vans like a window firm for example and ask if their sellin off any. I just missed out on a decent runner for the same price I paid for mine at the time, cant remember what it was but alot of the time they sell them off coz they dont use em all the time and are happy to get rid. A few of my mates get theirs that way. Plus now alot of firms cant afford to run say 5 vans so may consider selling to you.

Mileage might well be genuine - I average about 5-6k per year in my van as 95% of my work is within 10 miles from home.

That VW has 74k and it's 11 years old, comes to 6-7k per year.

Good Vans the T4's. Do you know if it 1.9 or 2.5. There's no TDi badges on the front grille or the back offside door it so it is probably a 1.9. You might find it a bit under powered but they're good on fuel. Even my old T4 2.5 102hp would do 39-40mpg. You can check the MOT history here to see if the mileage is genuine.https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_10020539

Ring the seller and ask for the current MOT number telling him you want to check the MOT history online. . If he won't give it to you then let it go.

The T4 will hardly depreciate either.

the one owner suggests to me that it could be genuine m,ilage. these were about when i was in the trade and the ladfs recon the 2.5 engine is the better

you wouldnt get a new model transporter for anywhere near that price, they are the most over priced vans on the market, the equivilent traffic/transit would be 3 years newer for the same price as a transporter!

Best vans though arn't they. Mercs and VW's are allways a bit dear.

Any of the transporters really. As long as it'll fit an 8x4 in the back I'd be happy. I was lookin at gettin a Tranny but Im leaning towards the Transporters now. Nice lookin, cheaper to run, more efficient, less probs etc.

mercs and vw do retain the most value but knowing the mercs I would never have another. pick vw anyday I would get a transit in front of a merc now with the new transits out. I recon the transit could be my next van but the way the price of fuel is goin I would be tempted to get a vivaro/traffic/primastar as thay have the best mpg with 6speed box. only snag is the gear boxes are sh1te and break dead easy grand to replace

van

It's like s*x on wheels.

Not any more. It would get all dirty, wouldn't it! :)

I always get my boards delivered and I could always use 6x3 if i'm desperate.

I nearly always supply, but my suppliers are really good with deliveries, even if I only want a couple of sheets or bags.
I just wanted something cheaper to run that would get my small tower scaffold in and all my tools. The Caddy Maxi fits the bill at the moment, does 45+mpg.....and goes like f.uck

The load area is 2250mm in length, with 1170mm between the wheel arches. The van itself is only 15mm shorter than my old Transporter.
