an old couples inside of thoer fireplace has blown. was going to re render with 6-1-1 sand cement lime but they said they had heard of this and would i have a look at it?

just wondering if its any better and how it finishes etc

what paint would you recommend to some1 for painting the render? exterior paint of just an emulsion?

Very very expensive goes no where, you are better off using a strong sharp sand mix
PVA cement scurry the walls first.
Why would you add lime to the mix?

add lime for flexibility and more crack resistant

the stronger the mix the more brittle, therefore more likely to crack??

its a nightmare to use but its a high peformance plaster for the job
