made a mistake of employing my last 2 labs (dint no ex jail bandits!) when iv laid them both offf for beein S*hit i get the old im cuttin u up crap.. nice nice were are all the normal people garn in the world? just wanna good lab!

Its like anything mate...you only get what you pay for.
At the stage your at with your business with plans to expand into contract painting /decortating etc ....why dont you try to get a business partner ??
Maybe someone with an established painting business that can plaster also?
This way if you both inject some capital and employ another person (laborour )on the books you should have enough work for you all to make a good living.
Just a thought mate.....it be hard for you to run a plastering business and set up a new painting company and have time to come on here.
Now is not the time to be setting up a new company, but as good time as ever to expand an existing one !!!!!

Never had that from a labourer but have from a useless spread that didn't like being told the truth. You say all you want is a decent labourer well let me tell you they are as common as rocking horse s*hit, I've had and sacked over twenty in the last fifteen years. The few good ones out there don't stay labourers for long.

Thats it andy...The goood labourers that have a brain.they home in on ur skills sus out where u get ur work then set up on there own and undercut ur prices. This is why most good small building companys and i mean GOOD are family run units.
The reason you wont f**k your own family over.
Not alll labourers are like this !!! but many are.

i usually work alone, a mate of mine does the same, if either of us get a job that warrants extra bodies we give the other a call, split wages/profits 50/50.

works for us.

pugs got the right idea...
patnerships dont work in my experience... always someone thinks there doing more than the other one..
'you do the work, ill look after the quotes and materials'... yeh, right!

i got 2 girls!!!!!!!!!! ha yea cashy T***s.. one was very good but then relized workin hard all week for a decent wage was crap

No one ever said that everyone you employ will be a nice person cos it just aint like that, thats why its called the building game cos thats exactly what it is a game so try not to take it to seriously as for labourers they are the same as a dog or a piece of Sh** and deserve to be treated so as Segs said the good ones go onto better things ive sacked hundreds and trained a few youl get used to it, remember game .
Lucius.

Hi Guys,

Am brand new to the forum and just had a little look round and thanks coz all's very informative.

I got laid off from my last job, unrelated to plastering and have another one to start but not til fricking August unfortunately.

I decided to do the city and guilds course with Gold trowel in essex, yeah i know heard alot of negative stuff about it on here but i just want to get good basics in as my brothers got a house in spain with alot of work needed doing to it and i'm gonna do it for him at some point next year and thought it'd be a good skill to have generally.

I'm 31 and live in clapham and was hoping that if anyone needed a labourer/trainee for weekend jobs in london then i ain't no arsebandit, am very hardworking, can take criticism and use it to improve and good to get along with and certainly no violent ex jailbird.

Any advise or if anyone needs help on a job, please let me know, it's be much appreciated as i don't want my brother's house to look like a bmx course !!!!

i need work lads good lab toooooooo cheep and reliyable own tools cscs cis love cash in hand (just call me pikey) then ;) southend essex

she not even two yet beter tiler then most of us the pley house is next then the dog house
