well this is a first for me first yr without contract work just worked through the weekend and no work booked in....

never finished this early ever always been that sad bawstard workin right upter death to get jobs finished before xmas even gone in inbetween xmas and new year in the past on empty houses refurbs etc...

feels nice but a bit weird will be bored stupid come xmas...

don't even know what to expect for jan got a couple of repeat customers to price bits up for so may pick a couple of jobs up...im guessing it will be quiet jan....

suppose I ought to start advertising realy but never needed to for past 10yrs when a mix of site, comtracts and domestic...

so guys how do u find domestics in January?

Should kick off again nxt year I reckon,can't c many domestic jobs coming in January plus every1s paying Xmas off..sumat will find its way to you it always does
 
tbh kitchy...gone are the days that I worry about work...ive had past 10yrs of worrying about how im going to cover all my jobs...always needing to sub work out and fit square pegs in round holes...

so this yr due to health woes and another couple of reasons thought feck it cancelled all my long established contract work and said stuff it il just do bits and bobs domestics on my own...

I sleep like a baby at night now just book 1 job in at a time and only have to worry about me turning up and me doing a good job....

il be honest get proper lonely and bored on my own....and seems strange only been booked up for a couple of wks at a time instead of 3/4 months in front...

but I feel like a new man tbh all the stress and worry is gone...it doesn't even bother me if I have the odd weeks here and there with no work or even bits weeks...

im 40 now and no way I could have carried on like I was would have been dead or in a wheelchair by 50 I recon...

Did the same two years ago, gone are the days of bashing out site work and all the worries accociated with it. Got a few local builders doing the odd house here and there, mostly domestic work with coffee and cakes thrown in. Still help a mate out when he needs and vice-versa, but then I'm 50 .....should've done at 40 like yourself, or like most people should've tried harder at school, on second thought I should've gone to school lol.

i like your attitude, zombie. i'm working this week, except for wednesday, and that's it until the 4th jan. so a nice break with the wife and kids. got all of jan booked in already, except for wednesdays, but i couldnt care less. im going to wind myself down to a three day week this year like in sweden. life is too short.a year ago i was working six days a week but then i thought what the fcuk am i doing.have more city breaks at the weekends, more holidays, meals out etc. otherwise whats it about. its ameans to an end. which is enjoying yourself.
