A pain, but sometimes youv'e got to do em.

Question is,

When using an angle trowel. Do you use the angle trowel simply to flatten the plaster? Or to both flatten and APPLY the plaster?

Iv'e seen good plasterers do both.

Personally, I apply plaster with normal trowel and only use angle trowel to flatten.

ive got one but cant remember the last time i used it. i just do the angles with my trowel and theyre spot on. i know people who use it before the first trowel and thats it, and i know people who use it several times. whatever you feels best

Use to flatten after laying up, but not too early cause you can take off more than whats been put on! I use my angle trowle lots and have no probs with wet angles at all, in fact I flippin love em!! bring it on!!

I use the angle trowel differnt to most but my way works the best I see a lot of spreads cock this up...

I only use it on the last coat and when the plaster is firm...

I use one blade then apply pressure on the other blade... = perfect corner every time

Danny

Too true Danny, and the ones who cant use them give them a good slagging but if used correctly they are a great tool to have in your quiver, ;)

must admit, i haven't used my twitcher in many moons. I just use plenty of water and trowel them in. just comes with experience, i suppose......or lazyness (before someone beats me too it!) ;D

an angle trowl is called a twitcher

kids ::)

Dont use it for laying on or down, wait till that sucker pulls in a bit ,then run it along your angle ,otherwise dont, youll make a right pigs ear of it ,if its too soft, but if you can do without better again,Ive cut my wings down on mine ,better again.

Use it exactly as Danny does and in my oppinion you get a much better finished angle with one, they just take alot of time getting use to

I use mine all the time. As soon as its firm enough I just run it along the angle.

I find its a lot easier and quicker to use rather than just a trowel.

i only use it once on second trowel just to squeeze all the gear into a neat corner, then i trowel up with small brush and trowel as normal

if you want a nice angle get a wooden float and after laying down put a bit of gear on it and run up both sides of angle then when taken in run your twitcher down it

Thats old school grand and ive seen many fine spreads using this method.Try using a sponge float for equally good results

Same as but I use a poly float, I haven't owned a wooden float for over twenty years.

its just that i'm after one, i saw this lad on ukspreads selling one but hes a bit far away, maidstone, jon his name was. i remembered you were selling some tools and didnt know if you had one? your alot closer to me aswell

i dont get all this ???

i dont get why people find them so difficult to use. they are 10 times easier than with a trowel coz u dont have to be too neat with the trowel as u can run the angle trowel afterwards to neaten it up. i use mine on 2nd wet trowel, once plaster is firm so it doesnt dig in. dont see why u wouldnt use 1???

and why do people avoid wet angles??

you messy c**t, look at the state of the handle! that looks exactly like the one my mate jon in maidstone is selling.

you do not know how much i love the fact that at the front of that picture is a brand new sponge float!

you like it m8 im still trying to get on with it got the rong sponge float from ebay (numty) its the fine one And i needed the course one softer one out the two :'(

Don't worry about the state of the handle it's the state of the internal after that dirty blade has been run down it I'd worry about. Oh and that isn't a f**k**g twitcher it's a drywall internal trowel, a twitcher is three sided.
