some have done some intensive testing on dry fix and are now refusing to spec it - like you say its the long term that is the problem plus it mirrors a bad substrate = loads of dubbing - not exactly thin coat anymore.

hiedelberg do a good mortar that can go really thick onto insulation

In an ideal world you would prep the building properly prior to installing the system, you don't see this any more, which is why most thin coat refurb looks shoddy, heavy renders offer some degree of tolerance.

Once BBA Agrement certs are in place, i guess it would be hard to take them away.

the T***s were making us put 2 coats of base coat on up to 8mm and want it smooth as a babies backside before putting acrylic on... never put more than 4mm on in my life before and have done mountains of it... anyway i think most or the other subbies are pulling off the sites very soon if not this week

nope mate

BBA audit every 6 months and can take any bba away

JFE is right - the BBA can withdraw a cert whenever they want, the review period is every 12 months and a full review and update every 3 years....

but the BBA only assess the system presented to them against the required regulations - they do not say if one is better than another - just if it is fit for use at the time of issue or review.....

the BBA are a stuffy lot - they take your money and thats that. if it passes it passes if it fails it fails take it or leave it
and it aint cheap either to do the tests/certs. - different to the european versions
