Hi all,
A friend has asked who would repair a pillar like this and how would they start?
Also whats the correct name for these external decorative moldings?
Im thinking these days they are made out of wood instead of concrete. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

there called cill bands.

you can get a mason in to carve them out of a workable stone like sandstone, and joint them in, depends on your budget.

You can take a reverse mould and cast in glass reinforced cement , kind of a specialist job but easy when you know hoq

yep or pilastars if it just the top of the column, my brothers a stonemason so ive been bored with masonary terminology over the years.

Hi Lexter

On external facades, I am seeing more and more pre finished polystyrene mouldings being used on new build sites now..... If when you look at yours, they are completely rotten and would be easier to just replace completely, have a look at this company. They can make almost any shape moulding, are very easy to install, and although they are polystrene, are very strong.... Home - Taylormade Facades

Good Luck mate!
