If you were going to jack in plastering and start a new career what would you do. Wether It be go and work in an office or invest 100k into something or start up a business.
It's something iv wanted to do for years. Iv just never had a good enough idea. I'd be Intrigued on your thoughts. See if we can try something aside from porn star
 
Doing property up there's still bargains to be had and if you keep it small there's a tidy little lump of money to be made!:RpS_thumbup:
 
At a property auction on Thursday and there are a few bargins to be had as investment opportunities
96k for a shop currently rented to a hairdresser with a one bed flat above pair of them achieving over 9 grand a year in rental which is a great return on 96k.
The one I was after went for ludicrous amounts over the guide :-(.
I always fancied being a professional Yorkshire man unfortunately im not quite northern enough :-(.
 
Property is a bit like plastering though ! before you know it you will be back at it skimming and knocking down, how about food like a nice little chip shop or sandwich shop or even restaurant , or fast food establishment :-) ?
 
I used to sell CNC machines for cutting and shaping glass and stone.... seriously considered going into making and fitting granite kitchen worktops!

There used to be a massive demand - pre recession - not as big now, but good money!

Looking back, I am glad I didn't take the plunge - that said, no one saw the recession coming....

You have to be born into it been a pro at yorkshieness im half geordie aswell so i usualy apologise before i slap the nut on someone!!:RpS_lol:

Iv done a couple but there's not a great deal going on my way. Everyone seems to be on the bandwagon and they're all sold the day they go on sale

That's the kinda thing I mean. Just like a completely different trade all together. My uncle used to have about 10 sandwich and fish and chip shops and did well out of it. Funny enough he sold up and now does property rental
 
Just get a buttie van and sit on the end of a industrial estate bet those guys turn a few quid over:RpS_thumbup:
 
Id restore classic German cars, vws, Mercedes, Porsche, audis etc.

Go on the road looking for barn finds all over the world.
 
I love my mercedes , i love to get changed into nice clean clothes , and race people around the area !, especially young guys who think there cars are fast !, good idea royston !
 
Sell things on the internet. Amazing what people will buy, my missus is in Kleeneze and they started on facebook recently and whoosh. Sales galore.
 
I'd invent a good adjustable quality hop up similar to what Regina sell using the marshal town 2 stilts click and lock design for the legs
 
And I'd advertise it in the uk not some unknown french company where you type in adjustable hop up and it doesn't come up

£20 and after a week the legs become flexible and bend and the rivets fall out the side.
 
ive been saying for over 15yrs wtf doesn't someone make hopups with inch increments atarting from beer crate height to 4 tread step ladder height!

every plasterer in the country would buy @£100 overnight guaranted

@ p1ss - go for it mate and sell via the forum or even @ danny I asure you it would far out sell any other new plaster gizmo by a country mile!:RpS_thumbup:

Bought a Kubota powered pressure washer and been pissin around with that all day today gettin it to run right. It's been stood for 3 years and needed a bit of spannerin. Can't beat a straight forward, carb fuelled, no nonsense engine to have a tinker with. Takes me back to my childhood of stripping and re building motorbikes. Love it!
 
@nickelarse maybe not what you were thinking of but I'd personally go with two essentials that will always make money and are recession proof and that's housing and food. Letting companies run well will do really well. A restaurant with a good reputation in a good area will bring in a lot of money. An old mate of mine set up a letting company in Manchester about 5-6 years ago with no formal experience, just good business sense. Saw him the other day driving a top of the range Merc which he is getting rid of to buy himself a £100,000k Range Rover. Seriously rich in such a short time!!!

Find a hobby or have an interest that you like that pays, and you'll never 'work' another day of your life.
And the property game has hanged a lot over the last few years,buy to let has changed to get financing you need a decent deposit 30% minimum to get a decent rate. and after that you need to be achieving around 120% rent of your mortgage repayments,I bought at auction few years ago, and put hardly any deposit down. It was more for a pension than to make a living off, cos when I'm old there won't be any state pension.
to be honest I wouldn't want to be doing any differnt to what I'm doing now to earn a living, has its shite days but what job doesn't.
