whats the difference???

Been trying to do a bit of digging today into potential course/qualifications for bricklaying as per previous thread etc.

Any hows what I cant work out is whats the difference with regards to

NVQ's 123
Diplomas 123
City & Guilds etc

If anyone maybe from the lecturer/collage side of things could shed any light would be greatly appreciated.

NVQ's are an assessment of your work and knowledge and can only be carried out while you are working on a job.

The diploma and C&G are training qualifications where you are taught how to do different aspects of plastering and also taught the theory of how & why you should do something.

so in essence if you were already working as a bricklayer but wanted to support with quals you would go for nvqs.

apose to if you have no workplacement and are starting from scratch are entry level diplma 1 and c&g respectively?

don't pull yourself down zombie - how about looking into tiling some of the units are similar to plastering -ie preparation of backgrounds, I think there are a couple of plastering units - repair work - these could be fast tracked by approved prior learning (APL)

When I went through nvq was done first after level 3 I was offered the chance to do further quals in the form of diplomas.
City and guilds are just the awarding body
