I hate this when your on your final trowel and a little speck of s**t puts a line in the skim fecking gets on my nerves.

It's called sods law Henry I hate it.ever ran out of skim by using to much water and no odds and sods in the van ?

Done it once and the only powder I had to add to it was drylining addy. That's when I learned to NEVER add DLA to yer finish - especially if you want a flyer:RpS_thumbup:

only had cement on the van once... f'ck me i was nearly in tears by the end of the set.... using both arms the lot... :RpS_bored:

i seem to be gettin problems with new gorilla tubs... you end up with these little tiny yellow bits of swarf that seem to get peeled off with the whisk... you cant see um almost till the end then the little f'ckers start to pop up, you try and trowel em in and they wait till youve passed then pop up again so youve no choice but to stick your bloody fingers in or the corner of the trowel, pick em out and fill the bloody hole! :RpS_cursing:

I used to get that all the time Chris now i have reverted back to the tall bucket again except for mixing dry wall adhesive.

im thinking of taking the angle grinder to the edges of the whisk blades and rounding em off a bit?

either that or copying you and finding a decent tall bucket or two... i reckon the gorilla tub plastic aint wot it used to be... everything gets cheapened dont it...

Yes i reverted back after seeing little yellow things in the finish on the final trowel, now i have found a supply of tall buckets for free as i wont pay £14 for the tall ones in the merchants.

i only started to knock up in a gorrilla tub end of last year (big ceilin needed alot in one go as i was on my own) and i had that problem at first but it seems to have stopped now thank fcuk

Maybe try a slurry mix with granno dust in the gorilla tub to clean it off - never used 'em meself like:RpS_thumbup:

wet up a concrete block like you wood to clean a trowel n give the whisk a spin on top at an angle easyer than using grinder and should get flatter finish

Only seems to happen when they are new once they are roughed up a bit it seems to stop happenning but then they are harder to keep clean.

bought a new tub today 73L big fcuker only once i got it into the wan i thought........once its loaded how the hell do i expect to move it or pour it on the board haha

you do realise northy, thats exactly how they sharpen cylindrical lawnmower blades... only using a cylindrical grinder instead of a concrete block and yourself as a chuck... :RpS_laugh:

what id end up with is a milling cutter.. :RpS_blink:

Yer I can go weeks with out lauching a blob all over and then it's all over my head I ve even had a ear full of skim stepped off hop up into splash buckets
fecking wet foot for hours always when your troweling up LOL. Lost count of the times the stanley blade had me over the years. Our trowels could slash us wide open .

haha done all of the above mate cut my wrist on my trowel almost sliced off the end of my thumb with stanley blade (between thumb knuckle and nail bed) plaster in ear and eye spent 3 days in hospital getting the plaster out my eye, resulting in a permanent black spot on my eye, and many many more, but thats life i spose haha

Was it a black one from wickes ?
I had one a few years ago good strong bucket.
If you wanna move it when it's full rock it from
side to side and turn the handles each time you move :RpS_thumbup:
And if you really wanna put a full 73l bucket on the spot use a shovel/scoop/big jug/small bucket to scoop it out onto your spot :RpS_wink:
Same as usng a bath & shovelling onto spot really, well
not for skim.

:RpS_cursing:certainly bloody do haha, im pretty sure most of my body is held together with gaffa tape and lecky tape

i did wonder weather he was jokeing or not but i couldnt decide, just thought 19 was a funny age unless he genuinly thought i was 19.
yep im 25 at the end of the year feel soo old now haha (thats not a joke either) all i keep thinking is bloody hell im half way to 50 soon my little girls will be all grown up and ill look in the mirror and see some grey wrinkled old man stareing back at me, and what have i done.........nothing just worked, and had kids of course

Refina for tall buckets but will cost you.worth every penny but they don't clean as good as cheap gorillas tubs but they are very robust.

i see everyone is using gorilla tube for mixing, is it not a bit hard to get the finish on the board?

I used to use a gorilla tub for mixing, but its a pig to get it on the spot board and also it seemed to set quicker so couldnt get the meterage on,mixes quicker in a tall bucket too.

the only reason i went with the gorrila is because you cnt fit 2 bags in a tall bucket
