Hello all,
So I'm Currently doing Alloy wheel Refurbishments under my own name so no stranger to starting my own business even at the age of 20.

I have always enjoyed cars and the car trade. but recently got thinking about plastering and i reckon i could earn more money than i am currently by doing it.

So my questions, i know you are always learn but how long until you felt comfortable enough to work into a house and do all just do it. without even thinking about it going wrong? also carrying on, i assume 'on the job training' is the only way to go? it certainly was with my wheels!
Second question is a cheeky one. whats your profit margins like? and how many hours are you putting in
il go first. i start work at 9 and finish at 3/4 with about £200 - £180 profit depending
i know i have it easy at the moment with the little work i do. but were I'm a new business that isn't exactly a typical day for me, normally between £400/£600 a week.

All help greatly appreciated
Nic

look at it like tis mate 1yr graft in plastering is like dog yrr in abuse to your body. After 10yrs you will have aches and pains you didn't even know exist!!!

im assuming that you can do what your doing until any age??? if so stay with it and grow your business and aim to grow and earn off other people.

In short, you need at least 5-10 yrs solid graft in plastering/rendering to know your arse from your elbow!

after 5 yrs you will cringe about your work from yr1. When you've been at it 5rs you will think your mega and then after 10 yrs you will realise that you was shite 5rs in!

then after 10yrs you realy wont give a foook and will be desperate to get out of building game.F.A.C.T!!!

i think im worse than i was 5 years ago:RpS_blushing:

it can work both ways, radius. i'm in good shape for my age. mainly because of jumping up and down ladders and scaffold all day long. i'm often taken for someone half my age. like the cliff richard of plastering. last health check at the docs was A1, perfect weight, blood pressure, slightly high cholestoral. sitting on your arse all day is going to make you a fat lardarse

Ahh I see :RpS_blushing:
did you get that roll of sandpaper I left you on the last job? :RpS_unsure:

I passed it on to the caretaker. When I told him and the cleaner that you were coming back tomorrow to do the staff room wall they cried with happiness. Well, I presume it was happiness? :RpS_unsure:

On a serious note, a couple of the teachers were admiring the kitchen and plastering in the doorway today. I can almost hear the MILF referrals. :RpS_thumbsup:

Aim do 14 stone as ideal weigh. Not easy to lose weight early 40's. When I was 16 I only weigh 10 stone with muscular frame cos i was a scrumhalf

stop fukin fillin yer face then!!!! yer gready bawstard 10 stone additional since 16!!!!

GULP...just realised put 8 stone on me sen since left school!!!:RpS_crying:

Is 'muscular frame' what they call a spot stand in Rhodesia? Why didn't you put it down before you got on the scales? :RpS_confused:
