I hate to hear people pricing on Day rate... When I was on the tools day work met a crap week for money and lots of fiddly s**t jobs or simply paid to wait around to get a start...

It seems over the years that working for day work has been the norm and to be honest it looks like the day work prices has dropped as well...

I call for a BAN!! no price talk in the open forum. Danny, you should know better!

1 week ban!!

That's a tricky question for me. I have 3 builders I do day work for and it suits me fine. They supply materials, I just turn up. Things like extensions can be a pain to price so that's cool with me and means I don't have to spend time looking and pricing them. One off jobs, always price.

Builders I don't know would probably be price too but I don't entertain general builders as most (not all) are just plonkers

I price most jobs on how many days it will take but don't mention to the customer or builder how many days it will take . If they ask I give a vague 3or4 5or6 type answer

I work in a squad, so it's only really odd homers I ever have to price but I usually just charge bit more than a days pay. I dont do homers though, usually cba with the hassle

I detest day rate, been on a job recently, first day foreman said don't do too much, one ceiling will do, was about 4sqm. Next day smashed a few as I was bored as, then next morning he told me off that I'm putting the rest into bad light.
I prefer price work, much easier mentally

Same here because sometimes it does run into the extra day because of some unforseen issue. Like the job im on now, it was a c**t to price and it has went over but theres been alot of extras added and they'll make up for the dicking about i hadnt seen.

we do it too suit us really if it's a shhit job day work that's worth it too us anything we can make a bit on then price work fuuk em

whatever pays more.

Depends on the job really, little bits gets a day rate as I can't be arsed packing up to go off to another job and start again, if I'm home for 1 pm with what I want for the day that suits me

Plenty of guys price jobs by looking at how many days it will take (essentially daywork) but extra profit will be made on materials

Do a lot on price now just to save messing about, have a day rate for a few regulars that use me. But on a day rate I dont do anymore than 2 sets a day.

Price only for me. Nip off and price a job whilst waiting on set to pick up on a cold day, without the look of suspicion from the customer.

I hate day rate as I drink plenty of cups of tea in between grafting and I'm not having some jobsworth clocking me and questioning it when I've finished. Price is best but on large refurbished I've done day rate but told them my rules before I start and what hours and roughly how many bags or area to expect etc. If I think somebody is clock watching me or questions me "is that it for today?" Etc then I walk. If your good enough etc they will put up and shut up
