Cover it with render mesh and tell them they take the risk of it cracking .

Was just about to say if you desperately want to do it the only real way is render mesh it.

Make sure you tack it properly with staples or the like to make sure the mesh attached to it.

Tell them it will crack but that's the best you can do without doing it properly
