hi lads, ive just had a look at at reskim in an old cottage.and on the edge of the chimney breast there are these wooden edging beads, pretty common in old houses.if i remember if you skim bead on top of these ,do they not move and you get a hairline crack down the side of the beads.has anyone else had such problems ?be gratefull of any feedback.cheers guys :) :) :) :)

What if you scrim corner first then bead?

This is what i used to do but also found that this dont work all the time as the wood swells from the water in the plaster and still cracks, so now i just rip em out bond them up and then stick the bead into the bonding. For how long it takes its better to be safe than have to go back and redo the whole breast ;)
