how do fellas?
My Missus has just started as a student nurse and from Sept I'm gonna start Finishing work at 15.00 so I can pick the kids up and save on child care costs. only thing is how the customer will react to early finishes
obviously I can get plenty done an a seven hour day or even turn up atv seven if customer wants. Have any of you guys got kids and working partners? How do you deal with it? ;)

i dont have kids but nearly always finish by 3.30 at the latest, so long as the customer is happy with your quote and the time frame with which you will complete the job in then it really doesnt matter what time you finish.

Me and the missus are both self-employed and it's a constant battle. On the days I have to pick up the kids and / or take them to school I'm lucky if I get one set on sometimes ;D

I like to finish about 4-ish anyway, but that half hour makes all the difference. Only two things you can do mate, get a divorce or become a registered childminder ;)

Seriously though mate it's hard work but you always find a way. Never any problems from the customers unless it's a rush job etc :)

we sat down when the missus was goin back to work and decided for her to get a job round the kids hours, so she does 5 - 9.30 evenins..
bloody hard work havin to work to a finish deadline in plasterin, that said what i normally do, if the first half of the day runs too far into the second is knock it on the head early and tell the customer if i start anything else ill be there while 7 o clock, they soon understand..specially if theyve got kids...

most lads on site are done for 3.30 ish mate just tell them youve got other work to do they'll understand or quote for the job and leave daywork hours out of it unless you have to so unfortunately they'll have to be up and dressed for seven ;D
p.s fair play to you aswell bigseggs and youre missus that must be hard mate

I often finish early but don't do lunch and drink tea on the go.

My ex wife is a student nurse and I have kids a lot. The problem comes when she goes on placement and has to do nights lates etc etc.
That means someone has gotta get kids to school as well as get em home.

It's just a big juggling act.
