i advertise on yell.com and get the odd phone call and job off it so alls good but then a mate tells me someones put a dodgy review on it but not about any work iv done but my attitude when i went round 2 price a job so wasnt 2 happy about this so phoned up yell 2 ask fot it 2 b taken off . Answer was no we cant its a customer review. hold on am i not the F*****g customer whoes paying for the advert . A pile of s**t not happy

ive been with Yell for a few years now, I paid the first year and when they rung me up offering to do me a website on the cheap I said no thanks they said id be on the Yell site for nothing next time if I do, I sad no, I didnt pay to go back in the next year and cancelled the DD but Ive been ever since without paying a penny!! they still ring me up asking about the website and I still say no. only ever had 4 phone calls from the advert and 1 job anyway

I use to pay around £400 but got nothing from it, so 2 years ago i just took the free add out with them

I paid £580 last year for my ad with them and didnt even get 1 phone call from it! i wouldnt use yell again. people dont really use them any more google is much better.

is the £580 for an advert in the yellow pages too?
after I placed the ad with them I did a little survey with the people I know, I asked them if they needed a tradesman what do they do? do they get the yellow pages out the answers I got back was no when the yellow pages gets delivered and left on the door I throw it in the bin lol same with the thomson local. Now its smaller some people i ask now say they put it in the draw but never look in it lol
Not trying to say everyone does they same, but around my town they dont tend to use it because we have a free 'advertiser' paper that people pay to advertise in (birthdays, deaths, pubs ,clubs tradesmen, and anything really ) and its in every shop, cafe, club, pub and every where you look really

No the £580 was for the website and iPhone app, they said I'd be the first one to show up for a plasterer in any Manchester postcode, and I could have 8 bullet points, a description and a website added to it. I didn't have a website at the time so I left that bit out. I couldn't use my mobile number though it had to be a landline so the could put a call counter on it. It's the only place thats ever used my landline to advertise I usually just use my mobile number and I never got a single call from it!! They wanted extra to be in the book but I don't know anybody that keeps or uses the book so I just had the Internet ads.
