Half block work, half old plaster

I have a wall that is back to the block work up to about a meter. The rest is old plaster. Am I on the right track?

My plan is as follows:
1. Prep the block work with 2 coats of PVA and water.
2. Use hard wall on the block work to the level of the old plaster. Use a feather edge to smooth and get to the same level as the old plaster. Scratch to give a key then allow to dry completely.
3. Prep the hard wall with PVA and water.
4. Apply 2 coats of finishing plaster. Troweling between coats and to finish.

I am a complete beginner and want to invest in the right tools. My shopping list is as follows;
40l flex tub
3 buckets
Mixing paddle
Bucket trowel
Spirit level
Hawk and finishing towel
Water Brush
Putty knife
Have I missed anything?
Can I use an OX speedskim ST instead of buying a father edge so I can use it on the finishing plaster as well?

Thanks in advance. Any advice is welcome.

Don’t pva the block work just give a dampen down or mist of water
Don’t let the hardwall dry overnight no amount of pva will kill the suction long enough for you to skim it as a beginner
I think your gunna struggle get a professional in

You’re only going to be able to work to the flatness of the existing wall. A speedskim is not really the same as a feather edge when you’re going for flatness with a backing coat
