Hello. We've recently had some plastering done in a knock through lounge. The plasterer we used was friendly enough and the quote was reasonable and we asked him to go ahead with the work. He struggled on the day - a week last Monday - and did not finish until 8 30 at night and because my hubby had taken down the wall lights and the plasterer had not bought his work lights he finished the work in semi darkness. At the time it looked okay but when we went to paint it at the weekend three walls looked just about okay but the wall on which we had installed the new lights looked ghastly and was full of bumps and wavy lines. We asked him to come back and fair play to him he apologized on the phone and turned up this morning. He looked at the work and agreed it was unacceptable and explained that he had no lights and that the plaster was poor quality of late and had set too quickly. He then glued the wall and said he was going to the van to get his plastering tools. But when I went to see if he wanted a coffee ten minutes later there was no sign of him. I have tried phoning but the call goes directly to voicemail and he's obviously washed his hands of the matter. We are planning to take him to court and were hoping that someone who is time served could possibly write a letter to confirm that the work is poor quality? Or perhaps provide a few technical explanations as to why the work went wrong? Just to put in the court papers.
The photos make the wall appear silver when it's actually white. I think the glue has made it shiny and it does not work well with the camera on my mobile. Thanks Samantha
