Silicone render texture issue

We just had some EWI silicone render topcoat done to our extension and not quite happy with the overall grain size as it doesn't quite match up with the rest of our house. Is it possible at all to run over the topcoat with a smaller grain size topcoat to help make it smoother and less 'grainy'? Rather not have to hack it all off to reapply.

im assuming the finish was 1.5mm thick. which is standard.

you can use a 1mm.but you are going to have to basecoat again
Yep spot on, it's 1.5mm... we were expecting a little bit of texturing but was not expecting it to be so obviously grainy.

Well, looks like I'm just going to have to deal with it if it means I have to rip back and reapply it all again because that's a no go for me.

you wont have to rip off. just a smoothing layer of basecoat. 1mm is finer but needs a flat surface.

please put a picture up though as its unusual for somone to say its a heavy grain unless they sprayed it ?

just got back and got a quick pic.

I wouldn't say 'heavy' but definitely grainier than I thought it would be... It's the sandy look to it that looking off against my existing house walls.

I think it's a heavy application more than the problem being grain size.

It does look ropey. Adding 1mm is not going to help.

Unfortunately, one step backwards to go forward.

1.5mm neatly applied can look bang flat with decent tradesmen doing it

That's sloppy and untidy, a s**t edge to the right with all s**t on the hinges - not good workmanship.

Did you do it yourself with a poly float ;)

Can builders not just leave it to renderers who do it day in day out to do a decent job. To f**king greedy.

This is rough work...patchy colour...looks like the base coat wasn't spatted flat...patchy texture...terrible finish on the edge...

Also looks like it's gone on to thick in places and sagged...

If you hadn't of mentioned it was 1.5mm silicone I would have probably mistaken it for wet dash
