as a new forum member, i am looking for advice on the best way to colour render the outside of a newly built detached house. I have only done a small amount of momocouche render a few years ago, so dont have good knowledge of the best products and how much they cost. I have always done sand and cement render in the past. My customer wants a cream/white colured render. There is about 200m2 in total and there are a few expansion joints to work to. it is built of standard breeze blocks, with one or two concrete commons here and there and concrete lintels over door and window openings.

can anyone recommend a product, procedure? any idea on what the product costs?
thanks.
Jon.

Welcome along John, you've come to the right place, a lot of render specialists on here :RpS_thumbsup:

Its got to be Parex with out a doubt, these days. Call their representative covering your area and get a specification of them specific to your job.

Why do they persist to build with breeze block for rendered walls. Basically they are doing the job wrong.

Brickies and blockies need to go to school. And take the scaffolders with them

They use breeze blocks to up the u value, I have an extension coming up concrete blocks inside ,cel cons on the outside..

Its not the brickies we just do what we are told, concrete blocks have no place in cavity construction these days though ideal for rendering on U value is not up to it need to dryline internaly with insulated board so if a kitchen extension a pain for fixings, its all down to architects who are again instructed by the government, the EU and f uck knows who else.

Gota say latley the big house builders are using concrete blocks if render or float and set is involved. But there is that 10percent and self builds stil using the bacardi breezers

I don't like them myself as I am a sand ,cement man, I also really hate them mixing them, dense concrete for dpc level then thermalites then concrete lintels,

Micro don't half sort them out though. Its quite amazing how such a light coating stops all suction from brezzers.

Is it preferable time and cost wise to a splatter coat with sbr in the mix..

We get it for 33 or 38 plus the vat and I think a tub does 100m2. It's rolls on easy enough but we smash it on with the skim setup on the Ritmo. I'm gonna try it through our airless sprayer as well as it spray is much neater and controllable.

It's totally reversed by dislike for celcon jobs. We are also using it internally for re skims.

Beddy and Nick were right its the way forward.

Anyone know what its made of?

Micro Gobetis 2000

Description

Micro Gobetis 2000 is a bonding coat for low or high porosity surfaces such as concrete, lightweight blockwork, bricks etc. It improves the adhesion for one coat render systems and minimises the risk of air pockets occurring in the application of one coat render systems. Applied by roller or brush, Micro Gobetis 2000 is suitable for substrates such as concrete, lightweight block, brick and certain float-smoothed, well adhered, render surfaces.

One more question, so you put it on the day before(micro) and then float the next day, so ideally an extension would be floated in one day?
