as most builders merchants don't stock blue circle cement anymore so have to use premier cement, I have had problems when I first started using it when it all cracked and blew but that I think was putting to much waterproofer in the mix but with putting less in it is ok now but the problem I am finding now is the suction on different parts of the render after hosing down is very high and difficult to finish the top coat anybody having the same problems

I chop a small pop bottle to measure out the water proofer then water , then once u know how much water to fill bucket then one bottle full of waterproofer :RpS_thumbup:

we mix the waterproofe additive into the water bucket, give it a good stir with an offcut of angle bead. do not just pour the waterproofe liquid into the cement mixer as it does not run through the mix correctly. and will not give you an even suction.
some waterproofe with an added retarder are useless. [jewsons own brand]. if you use a waterproofe additive you may have to add extra cement to the mix, have a read of the instructions on the side of the container.

so you reckon its not the cement that's causing the problem but not enough waterproofer but I have experienced putting to much waterproofer in the mix and caused it to crack and blow the cement company told me to use less waterproofer in the mix as the premier contained additives I put in 170mls to a 12sand 3cement mix do any of you use premier cement or the ordinary Portland cement

Always use opc. Over mixing will give greater suction. As malc said mix the waterproofer into the gauging water. Get yourself a cheap plastic measuring jug from the super market about 50p.

we use southern cement, a local sharpe sand that is good for rendering and sika additives , the one with the built in measure under the cap.

I never had any problems before until I started using premier you get a lovely mix with it but its so similar to mastercrete when it came out 20 years ago and that was terrible for suction because of the plasticisers they put in it I will try the ordinary rugby cement but I think that is loaded with chemicals and comes out in different shades when dry I suppose I will have to change builders merchants and get blue circle if possible also if anybody is using premier how much waterproofer and what make do you put in the mix thanks

I find rugby cement good but only the OPC in paper bags not the plastic ones. Same with castle cement il only use the paper bagged cement.
