Joists are all different sizes, all over the place ,looks like an old one . Possibly from broken ships, seen that a few times.

Got one of those magnets good addition it’s a Lath&plaster ceiling the magnet will find the nails on the lath aswell as the f**k*r kept sticking to the ceiling last time I used it on a lath ceiling,with lath ceilings now I just get a bucket get my hammer and knock holes in to find the joists
