Help with straw/thatch partitioning wall.

Hi, I recently moved into a cottage built in 1859 and I have just began renovating my bathroom. 1 of the walls appears to be insulated with straw/thatch. I cannot yet find the studs in the wall only flimsy battens which appear to be holding the straw in place. Any help on how I could go about plaster-boarding this wall would be great. Thanks.

Rip it all out then go to Carpentersforum.com

The walls are Reed not straw. Is this a listed building? A plasterer will be able to sort that out for you.
