Help! Installing a Heavy Plaster Ceiling Medallion on Concrete—No Screws or Nails Allowed. What’s the Best Way?

I could really use all your plastering expertise here!

I’ve got a very heavy plaster ceiling medallion that I’m having installed on my concrete ceiling. It was made in Turkey, and the makers have been super clear: no screws or nails at all. They say the plaster is too delicate and would break apart if we tried. Instead, they recommend applying plaster on both the medallion and the ceiling to secure it.

Here’s my concern: in the United States, I’ve seen that screws and nails are typically used for this type of install, so this is a little different. I’m hiring a professional, but I really want to make sure it’s done right, especially since it’s so heavy and fragile.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? How should I ensure it’s securely installed without screws or nails? Any advice, tips, or things I should tell my contractor?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s done this or knows the best approach. Your input would mean a lot!

Actually had someone messaging me a few weeks ago saying part of his ceiling had collapsed mate so I asked him to send some photos, big posh high room it was, about 17 feet high and had a big hole of exposed lath and a big F*****g rose lying on the ground !!! :oops:

Ye mate I know , I was using it in the late 90s for fixing cornice. Strongest adhesive bar none. Its the plaster on the lath that's the issue here, those wee mushrooms over the top holding all that weight. I would never fit a rose without getting a fix on at least one joist and a few straps too. Wouldn't trust it just on board either. I would " also" be using quick grab tile adhesive.

He did say it was going onto a concrete ceiling, in which case I'd trust tile adhesive to keep it up there long-term.
