Morning mate, first off the boarded walls are incorrect as you have pictured. Regardless of whatever finish your putting on your walls they should land and sit on top of the shower tray and not next to it. This aids water run off to definitely fall into tray. Over time with failings in sealant...
As said this can be done easily. I have used a product called feather it to fill the grout lines to make the surface flat. You can use microcement to do this and allow it to dry before microcementing the area. Downside to this it the expense of the product. Its a lot of money depending on the...
Multi fuel stove in a fireplace. Tiled on the inside of the fireplace. Boarded and plastered to a stop bead on the front of fireplace. This has cracked along the full bead on both sides assumingly due to heat from the fire. I'm here doing the extension but the owner has asked me to sort this...
All pretty much the same. I worked on the applicart building before they opened it. Beton just meant cement/concrete. Just another name for a marmorino finish
Hard to say exactly from picture but looks like a pitted marmorino. Can be done solely by trowel but easier to use a patterned roller on second coat to apply a texture that you lay down and it goes off leaving what looks like a cross section of a worm city. Looks natural in colour so no...
Anyone got a dewalt battery staple gun. In the market for a stapler and so far most manual guns are crap. It's a bit pricey but if it makes the task easier then worth the money
I put standard board on then tiled. Been in over 3 years now, 14kw used regularily. Lad I kknow who fits them recommends s and c for internals if not tiling. He told me I should glasroc before tiling and not later board but turns out I knew best
Other than the oak mantle there is no wood...
I tell people to use soapy water. Nothing harmful like bleach that will break down the product. I use fairy on mine at home, (I tell our peg to use it)
Danny spent time recording and blogging if I remember. You have nothing to lose having a go in your garage but if you want to learn in more depth then get on a course.
Did this last Week
Goldtrowel also do microcement course. Pretty much most jobs in micro can be done solo. If it's getting sizely then more people are required same as any big job. I thing working in pairs is always better just like most jobs but also specifically if you come across a problem the other person...
Hi mate , first off I'd do a course and learn the basics. Do at least 5 days to get the most out of it and learn as much as you can. Tools wise your mainly looking at some different trowels. They are smaller than the average plastering trowel. Some trainers use different whisk heads for mixing...
Does it stay wet or eventually dry out. It looks like liquid absorption probably down to the fixing hole for the screen. It's just like anything where a hole is created, if it's not sealed right water will find away in.
@ChrispyUK
Not got pics of all steps and all the white coats look the same but here you go mate
1st is a primer then
First coat of medium grain backing coat.
Next is a 2nd coat of medium grain.
Then first coat of coloured fine plaster
Then 2 coats one after the other of coloured fine...
Used same gear from ceiling to do my outdoor kitchen. Just need to source a decent resin hardner to put on the worktop to toughen it up. Looks pretty but won't last 5 minutes if I don't
I'm a advocate of dewalt as all my cordless are dewalt. My mixer is a 230v mega mixer though. I don't do any site work so generally always have a 230 socket nearby. I don't need a second mixer for adhesive. It was cheaper than the cordless and I don't have any battery issues. I have used my...
With the walls you can use hardie board or other but if using micro cement rather than tile you need to go onto a plastered finish. When I do them I board to floor with plaster board. Use a wet room system such as impey water guard. Comes with a waterproof internal corner for floor to wall...
Didn't get a pic but me and my oppo spent last 2 days in prestwich. 90s house with textured paint thin swirls. Scrape, prime and skim all ceilings in house. Furniture in every room. Pain in the arse
Been catching Mackerel off the boat using a cheap stermat rod and reel. Wanting to catch a bass. What's kind of rod would I need. Also does the gear need to be different when getting wet with sea water
I used to buy micro from actris. Nice staff and company. Went wrong though when a mate I put onto them went in for technical advice on a floor and they let him down. Couldn't advise on why the product didn't do what it should or how to fix it. I never had a problem with them though. Their micro...
Replied to your other post mate. You can do what said there alternatively if you want belt n braces I would grp the floor. Fibreglass the whole area including the tray up to the waste. Roll it up the walls a few inches too and that then eliminates any weak spots on internal wall/floor joint. On...
