Been catching Mackerel off the boat using a cheap stermat rod and reel. Wanting to catch a bass. What's kind of rod would I need. Also does the gear need to be different when getting wet with sea water

fishing for mackerel you can use pretty much any lures or feathers, bare hooks with tin foil wrapped round them would work aswell, they go for anything that moves, rapala lures are good for bass as are rubber eels, any tackle shop will stock what you need, off the boat a light boat rod or uptider rod will be good fun, the fish arent bothered with what your using tbh and its good practise to rinse your rod and reel with fresh water when your finished especiially fishing for mackeral s**t everywhere and scales

8ft spinning rod 15-18 pound mono and some nice rubber lures with a jig head for estuary, on a boat you want a boat rod strong line and heavy lures let the lure hit the bottom 2 cranks up and wait for the bass to hit,

@ Ritch is the man to ask about bass fishing been posting some nice photos
Went bass fishing off a jetty the other night and got escorted off by 4 coppers for trespassing lol fuckingg piss take

Other than a bit of Mackerel I can't emphasise how much of a novice I am with fishing. So, what is a jig head

If the lures are heavy does that mean you don't need to use a weight

That’s cool bud, a jog head is a weight and hook combo that u slide in the rubber lure to help it sink, or if on the boat get heavy weighted sidewinders there the best lure for bass
