You can get flexible plaster boards which have a layer of fibreglass in them especially for curved walls/ceiling etc. Not cheap though and only 6 mm thick :RpS_thumbup:
British Gypsum Glasroc Multiboard 6mm x 1200mm x 2400mm
Just done a job where the customer supplied, Multi left outside on a pallet which was poorly wrapped by the merchants. Pissed it down and all the bags got wet through... The plastic liner helped a bit but there was still lots of bits in it. Why don't @BritishGypsum put plaster in plastic bags...
Spent about 7 hours slowly cooking a lamb curry. the lamb just fell apart (probably my best one to date) :RpS_drool:
Had to take apart a worktop in the utility room to get an American fridge/freezer into the house (wouldn't fit through the front door so had to go through the garage). It's in...
Didn't have to work today as finished our job late yesterday instead.
Let the chickens out in the garden, have a look later to see if there's any eggs for breakfast. Oh, got to muck their coop out as well and put some fresh bedding in :)
Luxury!
Our (Victorian Town) house has no heating, no double glazing and no hot water. You have to get into bed fully clothed in order to not freeze. It's colder inside than out. Midwinter last year and my dad was stood with the kitchen door wide open and I said "Quick, shut it before you let...
I remember we needed a load for a job and they (Keyline) said they only had a few in stock but could get us some... Bunch of tośśers in there. Don't use them anymore.
Anyone had insulated boards where they've stuck the insulation on the white side instead of the back?
Got a load from Keyline once and I reckon the lads in the yard must have done it themselves with spray contact adhesive.. :rolleyes)
Only ever skimmed over blue grit once as the customer used it as he wanted a good job. He didn't stir it and the grit was all clumped together. Swallowed skimming to cover it.
I have an 11" Nela s*p*r*lex and I scratch and lay with that, no lines. Quick once over with the Speedskim after each layer and good to go (two trowels, no water and very little - easy). probably no good laying on with anything larger than that.
Depends what size you're after. A decorators merchants will have decent emulsion brushes but will cost.. Screwfix have Harris brushes for about £6 that we've used and aren't bad (now used to wash my trowel etc.)
Avoid the big ones from places such as Wack etc. that are laminated wood as they...
I've got a Mag MT Handhawkboard and I love it. My mates got a handhawkboard of some description with a wooden handle - the thing weighs a ton! he said there's no difference between mine and his.. Mine was about £30 of a fleabay shop. Still got my old MT that was worn to a throwing star but...
Only reason I flat scrim ceilings if there's a gap is to stop skimming falling out and slopping down the wall - especially if you need to be extra careful :)
We use Englebert Strauss as well. There's also BlÃ¥klāder.
I find the bib n braces are good in winter as they stop drafts up yer back but can pull on your shoulders. Got the trousers at the mo.
Think of going on the K-Rend course next year. £75+vat full day and food included. Though have to add costs of flights as well (our lass found them to be £130 return!) Had a look on the website and it looks good..
There's a breakdown of the day plus what you get at the end of it here..
IIRC there are two jack points, one inside the battery space and one on the front. Useful for keeping your ipod/phone clean (don't know if it'll fit when a battery is fitted though...
Got one myself, though getting fed up of Magic 828 (my mates choice of listening - I prefer radio 4 tbh)
If someone sends us a text asking if we'll quote for a job I'll ask the to send me their address and to give us a ring. If they don't reply they can't be interested.
I use email when I can and tend to email quotes (invoices and receipts) if available. I have a record then of dates and times...
K-rend course is only in Larne, N Ireland.. They will do demonstrations though at you local merchants if there are enough people interested. S'what I was told by their rep anyway.
When Ryan replaced mine the courier brought the replacement to where I was working, I opened the box while the courier waited and put my damaged one in it to be sent back.
No loss of work, no loss of skimming time due to being without a trowel.
I do have a spare trowel just in case but you...
It wasn't the glue I believe, it was the process of cleaning/degreasing the metal before the glue was applied - the bloke who was doing it wasn't doing his job right (everything that wasn't right got traced back to him) got sacked and the process is done by a machine now afaik.
Cheers for the feedback.
From reading the blurb the course is 65% hands on. I know bugger all about the different types of render systems but this one presented itself. Scott told us if we got a few lads who were interested they would hold a demonstration at our local merchants. They have one...
Scott McCracken (said he was a member on here..) came down to our local MKM merchants on Thursday and was very interesting to listen to. They are going to be stocking 3 basic K-rend colours and so had a good chat with him (only us and one other turned up to see him).
Talked a good talk so much...
Never rains does it.. Some **** has hit and run our van in a supermarket car park last night. A couple saw it happen and police were at hand but couldn't catch them.. Will half push out but will leave a crease.
Some years ago we had a big Bosch mixing drill nicked from a house we were working on - thieving scum used a small child to climb though a 10' sq gap and open a window on a house we were working on - plod found material fibres where they'd climbed through. I had our details written on a piece of...
Openoffice is a good free version of MS Word (openoffice.org)
I use both MS Office (on our business pc) and Pages on my Mac, both convert to pdf (MS you have to print to pdf for some reason, Pages you export as a pdf). I would think OpenOffice will be similar to Word.
