biggest gripe... well, Most HS stuff is common sense which most people have. What I dont like is the bigger sites where u have to have permits for this and that and theres usually some jobsworth tosspot who's job it seems is to get you off site for stupid little stuff. Best i ever had was...
youd be better payin the spread to come n tell u how to do it, though i doubt many would be prepared to do that, ive always felt that you learn best by doing. Just my opinion.
FECK ME! that was some s**t week mate! You really went through the ringer for a few days, (pun intended). Happens to us all mate seriously does. On the upside it cant get much worse so its upward and onward!
Id reckon that if he's got the right attitude he will realise that hes far from being a plasterer and will swallow it if he wants the chance, if not i think any one of us would send em down the road.
I remember making tea n sweeping up and even cleaning the workshop khazi for my first six months...
So you'd not employ a courser as a labourer and bring them on Spunky? as opposed to employing someone with no clue and teaching them absolutely everything?
Just playing devils advocate here you understand.
Seeing as it seems to be a topic of contention on here, i thought i'd ask.
So lets see what people really think. Some logic to your answers would be nice, just to see what the general consensus is.
Do try not to turn the thread into a shite storm though, despite it being quite an emotive subject...
My old guvnor had a dog who was an expert thief, i once saw him nick a sarnie straight out of one of the lads hands at brew and he never felt a thing! Clever fecker he was.
No frost no, probably too feckin cold! Set fine, went n checked it tonight. Reckon it must've been close tho. Tomorrow is gonna be a non event if we get snow. Might go get a space heater ...
Right, Im off to do a couple of sets on north thanet coast today, minus heating etc, so i thought it'd be fun to take bets on how long it'd be before the first coat pulls in.
Im betting between 2 1/2 and 3 hours.
Any takers?
Back on topic.... you aint the only one struggling with gear not pulling in, i did two sets fri last week and the first coat didnt pull in for about 3 hours, that was on top of it taking three hours for the PVA to go tacky. I was well pissed by the time i got done.
fair one, Best ive seen is a brickie knocking down his work after he was told he wasnt getting his money. Fair play to the bloke though. Im strict with how i pay subbies. I snag as we go, then when theyre done and we are both happy i pay em. Fair money for good work. That means they will work...
yeah i do heafy, they buy the debt from you, for a fee. Covered mainly by the interest they owe you. I'd write to them first and tell them this is what youre going to do. Stick 'Debt factoring' into your search engine an see who's about near you. Failing that i know some big fellas.......
I went for the cream injection, (ooer sounds wrong), as i wanted it done purely for the paperwork for resale. I've only got one bit of internal rendering to do. Well an entire utility once im done demo work. This rendermix from sovereign, is it premixed job? just add water? or an admixture?
The big Damp firms are a bunch of daylight robbers. I was looking at buying a shell of a house that needed at bit of tanking and repair. I had two quotes, One from a large firm that came in at about 6k, and one from a local small business that came in at £800 with me replacing the joists etc...
Im reckoning its the heat as bubbles says, relative expansion rates are going to be massive, Tin roof as opposed to solid plastering. Go for the 'expansion' gap as above.
