Sounds like a t**t mate. Its 20% he'd need to deduct but if he wants to take the tax off you get a cheque off him not cash that way he'll have to pay the tax he's taken off you having said that if he offerd cash i'd take it in case he stops the cheque! sounds like he's knocking you down to 120...
I'm ok to end of jan touch wood! Seen it though people know works in short supply and try to hammer your price.A blpke the other day told me exactly that and almost made out i should be grateful for the work!Told me he was sure he could get it cheaper with the present climate i wished him luck...
Yeah i had it with multi a couple of years ago was to high and it came off the bead so much went in i couldn't even open my eye with my fingers s**t myself got taken to the hospital where they told me they were trying to help me didn't feel that way!The best thing was we were working 40 miles...
Ive got to biggish tool boxes one for wet tools trowels floats brushes etc and one for dry tools tape measure pad saw snips pencils chalk line etc basically anything i don't want going rusty or getting damp as for out of shape trowels its not too bad if i slightly curves up but you don't want it...
Yeah i've worked in jersey was there for 6 months but working for my employer at the time from the mainland so no difference in wages hotel was good and going out drinking eating etc was cheaper as were tools and i've a 5 year old daughter from my time there so yeah all round good times ;D
I've had out of date plaster go bothways gone off before you can get it off the spot and still troweling it 3hrs later where it aint gone off.don't touch it now used to be handy to carry half a bag for patching but i don't bother now.
Re: how many boards on  average to a bag?
I've got to admit i've only ever got 2 boards out a bag the dabs are supposed to be every 400 i've seen site agents tapping boards and having them off again if there's not enough dab behind them
I carry 8 short tressels and normally nick planks off the scaffold,I don't like doing ceings off hop ups as i think they come out better if you can walk them through,as for stilts never tried them
Looks to me like its all gone on in one go had a bit of a trowel put over it when its already gone black and had the splash brush ran over it.Criminal, got a nerve to call himself a spread!
A lot more to it then you'd think all beds on suite lots of cupboards curved ceilings couldn't get near 2600 if i tried i keep running it through my head too!The guvnor said the price we gave him was pretty much what he thought,I,m not going to work for 300 a week not yet anyway ;D
The lack of work is now affecting us all, priced a five bed house they were going to tack it and DandD it so it was just skimming big old drum garage to do conservortory 4 reception rooms etc etc any how we worked it out at 3 weeks work for the 2 of us and priced it at 4800 labour only. We've been...
When the sparkys leave the tails hanging out the boxes the snips come out and i don't clean the boxes out if they can't help me i don't help them. The biggest thing that annoys me is boards that move about ie your half way through skimming a big ceiling and youve got to get the drill out and fire...
I swear by the metal wondermitre best tool i've got. We're doing artex cornice at the moment fiberous shite and you use a mitre box for that i think there crap and the more you use it the worse it gets.I suppose it's whatever your used to.
Iput it on with hawk and trowel but like you do with the bucket trowel some on the corner and tap it on the wall and it sticks much quicker with hawk and trowel.
Yeah good quote but i'd have gone on my own and banged them out in 2 days nice money,no real need for a labourer now we have paddle drills bit different in the days of stick and splodger.
Artex is great for sticking it ecspecailly if you've got a lot to do.Someone once told me you shouldn't use it but i've never had any come down yet i just knock it up the same thickness as adhesive and if it goes off a bit just run some water through it i just got fed up with coving adhesive...
Chris one last bit of advice with the adhesive you only want to knock up a bit at a time with clean water in a clean bucket ,about 2"of water in a bucket it doesn't last long, unless you stick it up with artex you can knock up as much!
I would normally say 3.50 a metre for the boarding and 5 for the skim insulating would be extra and loading out i'd swallow depending how far away the board was.I reckon i lost half a day a few weeks back just lugging boards upstairs.
What i always do is cut two internals about a metre long offer them up where there a perfect fit mark under them with a pencil then chalk line round the room keep the bottom edge of the coving to the mark and your laughing, you want to pva 4" down from ceiling and along ceiling from wall aswell...
It really is easy mate i wouln't waste money on a course you could pick it up in ten minutes. If you know someone that is doing some just spend the morning with them and you'll get it.The metal wondermitre's you can buy in merchants give you all your angles, chalk a line round the room and you...
Can do patching no problem just saying a lot of the time its false economy. i've patched walls before where youve got almost as much patches as exsisting wall and all coz that's what they wanted.Obvously you can't skim a whole wall for a few chases but sometimes it gets a bit silly.Perhaps i've...
Any sort of patching is shite i'll try and avoid it at all costs i give refurbs a wide birth if they want it patched as opposed to over set your normally patching into wall paper where you here those famous words "just go up to that if you can" load of bollox thats my opinion for what its worth :-/
I did a lot of work for a firm that did work for insurance company damaged ceilings mainly, any artex was tested for asbestos and if it was found to contain asbestos the ceiling was taken down by specialists(ghostbusters) You'd be amazed how many of the ceilings had it in i'd say 7 out of every...
i'd skim it too a patch will be blatent.I always cut the board back flush with the joist then screw 2x1 to the joist to pick the board up.I'll just screw batten right round the square as well overlapping the hole.Hope that makes sense i know what i mean
Could be at some point the wall had been painted with whitewash which is fooking murder.Any doubt lick your finger and rub it on the wall if white comes off on your finger it could be whitewash and would need to be washed off prior to skimming
