    Plastering over fresh plaster

stick with it…it’s fine. It takes time to break a new trowel in and bigger doesn’t equal better when you’re a beginner.

    Plastering over fresh plaster

Happened to me a couple of times and it ain’t nice tbh. The worst time was when I completely flooded my eye with plaster, so went to A and E as just round the corner. I think the clean up and the plastic gizmo they put in your eye is worse than the feeling of the plaster tbf. Most of the time...

SBR Peeling off wall (substrate and old finish)

Occasionally use it if walls are really porous but usually put on a couple of pissy coats followed by pva. Still has a bit of suction but nicely tamed.

    Asbestos concern

Well, not a total disagreement as such, but I’ve never heard of asbestos in wall paper or plaster apart from artex obviously, so I wouldn’t be concerned. If people want to get testing done, then that’s their prerogative I suppose. There are a few other areas where you might find it (old floor...

But you’ve still got the soggy stuck together pages of them stuffed under your mattress mate. Always nice to look back Ah the memories

    found a lot of money

Good question. Like I said, money in a bag is a different conundrum. It’s potentially associated with being dirty and crime, and we’re programmed in that respect. I’ve never had a substantial amount of cash in my possession, so putting it in a bag in the loft doesn’t equate in my world. Tbh, I...

    found a lot of money

Money is just one way in life. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have more money than not enough, but like the guy he handed it back to…it was very matter of fact. He remembered enough to offer a token thank you,a reminder of his past possibly, but he had no current understanding of what that...

    found a lot of money

I’d have handed the purse back mate. No fun when you misplace your wallet and the stress involved. Bag of cash…tough one, but I’d probably have kept quiet. Cash in a bag tells many stories tbf. You could always ease the conscious by making a partial donation to whatever you deem to be a just...

  17. ChrispyUK

Correct, which is why you’re NOT going anywhere near them with your trowel

Calling all experts! - Insurers may be telling porkies about plastering drying time?

You’d start calling a hand board a hawk after witnessing what I saw Hector. May pop it in the private members (y)

    Plastering over fresh plaster

Too big a wall for a beginner and the door makes it awkward but good for having a go. Sbr is a bit like whiskey. Some people drink it neat, some with water.

Calling all experts! - Insurers may be telling porkies about plastering drying time?

Yes: whoever is doing the work for the insurers will be on a good screw so should be in and out in no time. I’ve done a lot of bathrooms over the years and even 80 yr olds have managed with just a sink while the work was being done. Can appreciate its not nice not having the usual...

Calling all experts! - Insurers may be telling porkies about plastering drying time?

Well, slightly off topic, but I’m working for a couple of days down in Bristol. Here to do a bit of plastering for a friend of my mate. Popped into one of my mates jobs this morning to take a look as he’s just finishing off the rewire and there’s a bit of work on the job for me to do in a few...

I’ve no interest in your buttocks, so open them if you want. You may be able to keep up the knee pads but hang your trowel up.
