Hi Malc. No the 2 mixes I mentioned in the 1st post went on over a 4-1 scratch coat. I firstly scratched the panel at 4-1 on a Saturday and the following Saturday I finish coated the panel (divided the panel in half with 2 different finish coat mixes)

But why didn't the napped render have hairlines.....same mix. I'd guess 99% of plasterers don't put fibres in their render when sponge finishing. If it's the wrong mix for sponge finish I'm all ears

Interesting answer monkey boy but how would you evenly distribute water evenly over a sponge finish to achieve no hairlines. Its sponged with a damp sponge

Why is 52.5 Newton white cement predominantly sold and used in the rendering game and causing unbelievable confusion about ratios when 32.5 Newton white cement is also made and sold. Opc is 32.5 Newton predominantly sold and used so why do merchants not sell 32.5 Newton white cement.....

Is it OK to roughcast over white sand white cement mixed at 6-1 with plasticiser(no lime) It's let to dry for 3 or 4 days but it's dampened down before wet dashing. Wet dashing mixed at 7-1 (7 soured mix to 1 white cement)

Used this stuff last week. Mixed at 6-1. Lord Jesus does it set fast. The white cement was 52N. Have any of ye much experience with this stuff. Just hope 6-1 wasn't too strong.....

Really don't mind it at all. Slightly baffled though by some people who have never let the 2nd scratch dry and then wet dash it. Have always done it this way. Doing a school after Xmas and it's 6mm chip with white sand and white cement. Never dashed with the white sand+cement before. Iv heard...

1st scratch scarifier/comb 2nd scratch lightly provide a key with run of a yard brush or dome devil float. Reason for 2 scratches is to make sure blockwork lines don't show through and weatherproofing. And no, 1 heavy scratch would not suffice.

When wet dashing/roughcasting who prefers to apply a scratch coat,let it dry and then dash to a wet reciever coat. No.2: who prefers to give 2 scratch coats let dry and then dash.

130 board's onto new blockwork

Got a job with an assload of insulated plasterboard. Any1 use the pinkgrip over the bagged adhesive. Is the foam any good. It seems to be quicker......saves mixing washing etc. What are the thoughts?

Cheers vfr12 but nah,it was fine to float(twice) and napped up OK. The plinth probably was a bit "soppy" due to it being layed on because after rulling off we had a barrow left over. Would frost create this effect....trying to remember if the nights were around freezing temps when done...

I'd doubt drying too quick. There was no panic with it all day and its in the middle of a wood so well protected...and napped late November so damp coolish weather around then plus it was wet down the evening before and the following morning prior to laying on..... Probably be fine when painted...
