I do on my own jobs but doing site work at the minute. So not an option.I thought you used durafinish? Wrong person perhaps.
Not really they dont pay my wages and to be fair if something s**t i wont hesitate saying. Dura finish used right is far better im not denying that but im also saying multi shouldnt be blamed for tiger stripes. But your in bg pocket after doing that video for them bit like Vincey really
Hairy muff, particular job I’m on struggling with plaster but 99%sure it’s the cold wreaking havoc with the set. Never struggled with my domestic jobs because they are warmer indoors.I

Maybe you have been lucky in not having a bad load and I fully expect if you did hit a bad lot u would say many spreads on here with varying experience years in the game have had trouble with the gear I don’t think that people are just moaning for sake of it or become crap overnight they are genuinely having issues with it myself includedNot really they dont pay my wages and to be fair if something s**t i wont hesitate saying. And me it doesn’t matter where we get it from eitherMaybe you have been lucky in not having a bad load and I fully expect if you did hit a bad lot u would say many spreads on here with varying experience years in the game have had trouble with the gear I don’t think that people are just moaning for sake of it or become crap overnight they are genuinely having issues with it myself included

It really isn’t the same imoAnd me it doesn’t matter where we get it from either
No it’s not it’s a f**k up somewhere otherwise you wouldn’t have so many mentioning it and it’s been going on a while, if someone hasn’t had a s**t batch yet they are luckyIt really isn’t the same imo
Honestly the only thing that could be the issue is storage from a merchant..Hairy muff, particular job I’m on struggling with plaster but 99%sure it’s the cold wreaking havoc with the set. Never struggled with my domestic jobs because they are warmer indoors.
I guess untill i get a bad batch can only disagree how is it different for you though as in has gone grittier??Maybe you have been lucky in not having a bad load and I fully expect if you did hit a bad lot u would say many spreads on here with varying experience years in the game have had trouble with the gear I don’t think that people are just moaning for sake of it or become crap overnight they are genuinely having issues with it myself included
For me mate it’s just inconsistency in even from mixing up once I done same water to powder and it went really still so put a glug of water in and it went piss wet handful of powder back to really stiff went on for about 5 mins drove me mad I’ve been plastering 18 years so isn’t like it new to me, then the odd bag it’s either hanging or really going in quick even on Saturday I was getting on the ceiling and two sweeps were really picking up and bit next to it was soaking through it seems more plasticine feel to it and can see that if a bit on the spot board or in a tub the water separates from the finish like more than ever,I haven’t had as much grainy stuff myself odd bag with boulders in it though, that might go on for a few weeks from different places I buy from then I will get through 20 bags where I won’t have a problem trouble is I’m adjusting how I work all the time at the min lucky I got the experience to to get me through when I get a load of crap gearI guess untill i get a bad batch can only disagree how is it different for you though as in has gone grittier??
Fair play i no theres a lot moaning about it and there all miles apart from eachother
Check my last post does that ring true with what your getting? No it’s not it’s a f**k up somewhere otherwise you wouldn’t have so many mentioning it and it’s been going on a while, if someone hasn’t had a s**t batch yet they are lucky

Mate I was well baffled that day I’ve done same way for years so wasn’t like I was getting it wrong had major self doubt and was calling myself all sorts lucky only had a few like that it’s more annoying when you gotta get on and a basic task throws you outi used knauf mp finish daily for 3 years.
same problem...never knew its setting time.
first hit of a pallet id only mix 1.5 bags to know what i was dealing with.
then adjust myself from there.

When I went over to the site work it was a different ball game and I had the tools they gave me like pointing trowel bucket trowel basic labourer ones and I would end up losing stuff from time to time they on end made a list up and everyday when we was finished I had to go round get the tools and tick them off on a list I soon learnt to not lose a tooli remember many moons ago a labourer cleaned all the trowels in the van spotless.
i had 3 lads skimming for me.
we praised him for how shiny and new he got them for us.
4 days of solid shite skimming ....troweling walls 10 times to get them right i realised each trowel had the slightest dink in them where he knocked the shank with the pointing trowel !!!
not his fault but mine !!
a tough lesson learned

Fair enough mate i agree with the timings have been off no question about that i skimmed over an artex ceiling the other day two good coats of pva went in like lightening even no the first coat was nice. For me mate it’s just inconsistency in even from mixing up once I done same water to powder and it went really still so put a glug of water in and it went piss wet handful of powder back to really stiff went on for about 5 mins drove me mad I’ve been plastering 18 years so isn’t like it new to me, then the odd bag it’s either hanging or really going in quick even on Saturday I was getting on the ceiling and two sweeps were really picking up and bit next to it was soaking through it seems more plasticine feel to it and can see that if a bit on the spot board or in a tub the water separates from the finish like more than ever,I haven’t had as much grainy stuff myself odd bag with boulders in it though, that might go on for a few weeks from different places I buy from then I will get through 20 bags where I won’t have a problem trouble is I’m adjusting how I work all the time at the min lucky I got the experience to to get me through when I get a load of crap gear
I don’t get stripes and haven’t for a while if I’m honest it’s more I’m finding I have to work it harder to get a finish I have a way I work it’s worked for years but now I stick to system but have to adjust it at times trouble is once it’s in your head it’s easy to blame gear but it’s defo not right or how it was years ago but we have to just keep going and keep adjusting plastering been done same way in theory for 1000s of years so I suppose this is just another changeFair enough mate i agree with the timings have been off no question about that i skimmed over an artex ceiling the other day two good coats of pva went in like lightening even no the first coat was nice.
Just never had stripes off it just adjusted to suit timings.
Im half debating going to blue grit just the wait doesnt suit.
I remember on a Saturday I went in with one of the blokes on his private job being young I went in with a hangover I went through the mixer lead half way through a gauge there was a tool shop end of road and I brought a plunger f me that was hard work and I was called all sorts still I didn’t learn my lesson I still went out on Fridays and Saturdays even if we had worki got sent into the garage at 6.30am to buy sponges and fairy liquid for the days render when i was a kid.
f**k me i nearly got strangled for buying the lemon fairy liquid.
the smell of lemons around site was ruthless.
fairy liquid on site in london was outlawed back in the day !!

knackered from nippers and work !!
Yes exactly the same here used to be a bucket of water wasn’t quite enough for a bag, now it’s too much which incidentally is a f**k*r because that extra handful or two of powder nearly snaps my flimsy arms getting it on the board. The time it takes to actually finish is f**k**g incredible five hours the other day before it would polish half of it was black well it wasn’t because the stuff was pink but you know what I mean, the bloke said we could have the bags left over, threw them straight in the skipCheck my last post does that ring true with what your getting?
