2 trowels for putting on

recently worked with another spread who put this first and second coat on with one 14" b 4" trowel and troweled up with another one as he said the first will put it on even as it is not bent in anyway due to pressure threw troweling. just wondering if theres any truth in this?

If your looking to "wear in" a new trowel you can lay on with this and trowel up with a worn in trowel.

if i was gonna be splittin hairs id say you actually need about 4 trowels for the entire process.... each one slightly more flexible than the first, the first being a flat, stiff, cement trowel, like a 14x4 ragni...
in actual fact, all you need to do is vary the pressure you apply to the trowel with each pass and use the same trowel..

He's probably troweling up with a permashape that are a bit like a banana but take the strain when troweling up

Every plasterer is diffrent ive worked with about 20 and most have diffrent ways of trowling up but at the end of the day when you finish an area if you know what to look for you should know if the guy using 2 trowels makes any diffrence at all.I once saw a so called plasterer mix pva with bonding coat when i asked him why he said you have to every plasterer knows that it so you dont have to scratch or pva the bonding after ,i said well if you apply bonding to the wall and skim it in the same day id just scratch the bonding then skim over it as there shouldnt be a lot of suction he just walked away lol

lol i put on with a big ****. flaten with spat cross with a little 11inch and final trowel with another 11inch one that i i have had since day 1. oh and b4 that i float the walls with a different big one. ha

Hello chaps, funny that I seen a would be plasterer putting pva in to his mixing water when mixing finish plaster , I started using a 20 a few weeks ago the 13 has no flexability compared to the 20, every plasterer should have one ...ha

I use a14 inch for the lot apart from touching up,never had a problem see people with these massive trowels load of b*ll***s.
