ADVICE NEEDED ON PRICING A BIG CONTRACT

sounds like you need to be fairly accurate as in bang on with your prices. I dont think the forum is the right place to obtain the rates, you need someone with experience to build up the rates having viewed the schedule of works, spec, site set up etc etc every job has a slightly different pricing structure due to the factors affecting it

it is very hard to price anything without seeing a spec etc etc.

You need to be careful or you will over price it or under price it.

Why put a price in for a job that you dont understand anyway??
But if i was you id Price it as tiling m2 same sort of rates £20 m2 pay the plasterer £5m2 that way ul get a good plasterer and youl make good money too so everyones a winner.

one tip for ya i price work in manchester alot and my competitors are going in at -1% break even and +1% at the mo on bigger contracts wich means your proff = either nothing or 1% of wahtever your mats and subbies cost is its cut throaght over there

Hi again, I won the contract i was after, I am running a pilot scheme for the first 3-6 months to see how things work out.

The plastering questions i was asking the other day have now been scrapped by my contractor. They now want to start my pilot scheme in the bathroom part of the company. a plumber will be ripping out and refitting the bathroom equipment and we will be doing the tiling and plastering.

They have stated that they want every bathroom boarded out and skimmed from ceiling height to half way down the wall. i am estimating that an average bathroom will be approximately 13m2.

what would you charge for such a job??

1, Price with materials

2, Labor only price

Also would a plasterer remove the tiles prior to boarding out or would i need a laborer to do this??

I hope u can help me again

Thanks

Peter ;D

hi Peeps,

I own a floor & wall tiling company in the midlands and have just secured a large tiling contract in the Manchester area and need some help with pricing the plastering work.

The company that i have won the contract with want to know a square meter rate on plastering. I find this odd due having previously priced works by the job, but this is what they want so i have to come up with a figure. ???

I will be subbing the work out to carfully selected plasterers so i will need 2 prices, 1 that includes materials and 1 that doesn't.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ????

Many thanks
Peter ;D

so your going to need 5/6 full boards per room. 1.5 bags of bonding adhesive, 2 multi(if your only going half way down.) it,s difficult not seeing the job but I'd go £50 materials per room (you should make a bit on this over time). time wise = half a day board, half a day skim, ish., if you get a good routine going you should be able to charge £175 inc materials per room. If the tiles are sound and not loose lust go straight over the top as you would with an over tile.

Thats great news ;D will the bonding adhesive stick the plaster board to the existing tiles if they are like you said, "sound" ?

Thanks ;D

Bonding adhesive, sticks to almost anything so tiles should not be a problem. do a little test to try first but I dont think you'll have any probs. if it was me I would jost go for it. the other option is fixing foam at about £6 a tin. a lot less mess, no wastage and 2 cans will do 1 room with left overs, the upside to fixing foam is you can plaster the fixed boards on the same day, plus if your boarding skills aren't too good, you can fill the gaps with the foam, leave for 30 mins, cut back with a sharp trowl scrim and skim stright over. ;) hope this helps

I was doin similar work your talkin about and chrisw mentioned a similar job, i remember the tiling gaffer having loads of problems getting extras and believe me there was a lot, ie leaving bottom rows of tiles off coz bath wasnt fitted or fitted wrong or was pulled out coz it got damaged, sinks goin in and out and in and out you get the picture, tiles not available, customers changing there mind on the colour half way through, boxing ins and all the other extras, it was easy getting the extrawork forms filled in and signed but they wanted to pay metre on some and hours on the some and it caused a lot of problems so be warned. :)
