Hello all,

Been a long time since I done any krend.....and to be honest it was a tiny dwarf wall extension. Other than that and a 2 day course in it a while back, I've not touched it.

Anyway, just about to finish a 5 bed house and the guy is now interested in having 2 walls rendered due to **** pointing, he wants to match his garage which is krend.

So, I'm after any pointers.....tips on coverage, application etc etc....a proper spread to help maybe :RpS_crying:!

Its going onto red, face brick ( 1950s).

Are you using krend mate? I would base coat it fully meshed then top it off I would also prime it @ 4-1. Sbr or r7 top coat ft I would work it out just under a metre per bag about 0.8 roughly hpx or hp12 you will cover about 2.5 metres @ 6 mm

Cheers for that. When you say 4:1 prime, are you talking sbr:cement as a slurry? That's what I'd probably use if S&C rendering? Any advice on size, standard of mesh?? I know the data sheet will probably indicate this but that don't get my post count up and, nowt like real world advice!!

How long can you leave the base coat hp 12 before topping it off ? I've got some to do but don't normal leave it that long ?

You don't need a primer mate if your basing.
If the reds are dense or smooth in anyway I would go straight for hpx base not hp12.
Hpx will go straight onto smooth brick and once dry is perfect for topping off. Mesh as usual.

when anyone on here says its a long time since ive done any rendering , its code word for i mixed it up as a labourer but never took any notice on how it was done , so now i have to come on here and wing it .

Well that may be true Church but isn't that what this forum is for?

I did exactly the same on the L&D forum, got some sarcasm but a lot of help from fellow enthusiast's, so give the man some credit, we all have to start some where.

Good luck with it Hairybear.

no the forum is for giving away hard earned trade knowledge , tips and secrets for free, so that any so called spread can look it up and sound like they know what they are talking about . While the owners and the sponsers earn money out of the hits , Im guessing, happy chirstmas.

Well it is a forum open to the public? Maybe time to become a private forum and paid for.

I do see your point though. But for me it is give and take. I wouldn't have What I have got today if it wasn't for the Lord & Downing forum and this one.

Good time to thank Les and the team @PFTnorthern along with @UKPlasteringmachines for their help and support over the year ,Happy Christmas guys :RpS_thumbup:

The only advice I can give is if you've only done a small area before and not confident taking on a large area, either walk from the job or get a experienced bloke on board to help out
