if you hire mike then youll get a better deal cos he comes as a 2 for the price of one package cos ryan will be humping his leg and wispering sweet nothings into his ear:RpS_wub:

hahaha.

Ryan 41mm screws? dont need screws that big generally.

the stuff made without scrim and laths, usually has fibreglass strands in, imo its shite and mostly important from china. Wouldnt touch the stuff.

540 mile round trip that is! 9 hours driving, and a days graft. HA, would have to be a shiny payday to do that! £600 and your on mate!

marshy im gonna have to get a bigger screen soon to fit all those green blobs your collecting

so oli mikes (with ryan in tow) price is now 1200 deal or no deal

Sorry to hijack here but have any of you come across cornice made without jute scrim/ hessian in it and fibrers used instead ? I got a call last year about fixing some and went to have a look at job, 10 lengths in total and i made me excuses and ducked it cos 4 of the lengths were in pieces where they had broke in transit. Oh there was no lathe in them either. I just had visions of them snapping as you lifted them into place.
Sounds like GRG, tho it should have laths in it, so you can fix it,if it is GRG its really strong and easier to fix IMO especially if your on your own.

@Olican put it up dry mate, cut it all up find timber mark on ceiling, run cordless into cornice first so you can sink screw, just use dry wall screws. Then cork top and bottom, you'll fly it man.

If timbers don't allow dry fix, use hurculite ....

I'm crap at mitring up, I hate it ...

I'm the other way round, I'd do this all day if I could.
I did a job last week, was really looking forward to it too until I turned up to cornice the kitchen to find the kitchen being fitted and another hand painting it!:RpS_cursing:

I dont mind paperbound stuff. only done fibrous cornice once with the old boss and he had me forming the joints with a stanley blade

Coving is like s*x.....when its going well and all the bits slot into each other its a dream to do......when its all the wrong shape and nothing you do works its awful :RpS_cursing: personally I enjoy coving, its nice just to chill out be patient instead of rushing around
